About a month and a half ago, my bf and I entered a sweepstakes to win a Hummer. I guess it was sponsored by Sundance Vacations b/c they keep calling (seriously, they call once a day) to tell me about how I have won this free two night stay in a hotel, blah, blah, blah. I did some research and it is a scam. How do I get these people to stop calling me? I don't answer when they call (I made that mistake the first time and told them that I wasn't interested and yet they keep harassing me). They actually just called me two times in a row. I hit the end key the first time and they called right back. It's annoying!
Can I block callers on my cell phone? If so, how? Thanks!
No, I'll try that...but they already have my number in their system, so I don't know if that will help.
What do you mean? If they already have your #, that would have to mean you registered right? LOL.
If that doesn't work - I'd keep ignoring the calls. I had something like that happen to me recently (it was some Fashion college trying to recruit me) and finally they just stopped since I never answered ever. HTH!

No, I meant that the company who keeps calling me already has my number, so I don't know if a do not call notice would work on them! I just want these people to stop calling. I'm ready to answer their call just to tell them that.
I say you answer it & tell them to stop calling, take you off their list, etc. I believe there's a law that if you tell them twice to stop calling & they don't that they have to pay you like $1,500 so it works- maybe I'm making that up? I'll see if I can find something to back it up.
Yes, but they also have X amount of days to comply if calls have already been made, IIRC. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't demand to be taken off the list right then and there - I find the firmer I am with whomever calls me, the less likely I am to get another call especially if I get their name .

i kept getting calls on my office phone (at my house) for some CC deal. I told them two times to stop calling and take me off their list. I still kept getting calls. Finally I called the company directly to ask to be taken off and they told me it takes approximately 60 days for their "do not call list" to go into action.
Definitely answer and tell them you want to be added to their "Do not call list" and ask how long it will take to be effective. Note the date and if they continue to call after that time, then I would take legal action.
Wait-I think this is the company that was doing a contest for some car in a mall by me about a year or two ago. I don't remember if I told you about this. They called me up, said "You won the car!" I was so excited and then they were like, "Wait--you are 30-40 years old, right?" and I said "no." They said "Oh, Sorry. You have to be between 30-40 to win the car (WTF? I am about 99% sure my age was asked on the contest form). However, you could get 20% any vacation." I was just like F you and hung up.
There's a code you can enter on your phone to block specific calls as they come in. You'll have to call your provider to find out how to do it specifically. I had a caller ("out of area") that would call me every day and hang up or just sit in silence. Spooky AND annoying. So I asked the phone company how to block the caller. Since they showed up as "out of area," they couldn't be blocked, other than paying for a tracer. But since you know who they are when they call, you should be able to block them.
