Yesterday I had to drive from my city to Ithaca, where I have some work to do in the labs at Cornell University. It is about a 150 miles drive.
I got to the campus, and my car broke. It's the transmission: I have got a new transmission less than 1 month ago, it's still under warranty, but it failed. And I can't take it back to the shop where it got done, b/c it's 150 miles away. I called AAA and we took the car to the Toyota dealer, who will work on that, hopefully today? In any case I was planning to leave Ithaca on Fri, dunno if I'll have to take the bus.
I need you girls to send me good vibes. I feel so depressed, as if a guy had dumped me, that kind of hopeless depression. Not even angry, just depressed. Besides, I am here in another city, I don't even have friends to go out, get drunk and forget about this, and I am really getting more and more depressed.
For the law experts out there: since the transmission is still under warranty, can I have the shop who changed it the first time pay for any work I need to do on the car here in Ithaca? And how, I just show them the bill?
That's terrible! I don't know anything about cars but I hope everything works out. I also lived in Ithaca for two years and while it is beautiful in the summer around this time of year things start to get pretty dreary. That certainly never made me feel any better. Anyway, I'm sending good vibes your way!
I called the garage; they need to get a new transmission (note that I got a new transmission last month). They'll give me the quotation probably tomorrow morning, but I already expect it to be about 1200$.
Now, what do I have to do with the guys in Buffalo who put the previous transmission? I was even thinking to ask this garage to put the old transmission parts in a box and I'll bring it to the Buffalo garage (as in "I am returning this t-shirt because there is a hole in it, I want my money back") and ask for the money back. I don't think this is necessary, but it'd be a nice satisfaction...
I really don't want to go to court, but it's a matter of 1200$!
ugh, i have no idea what you should do! can you call the first mechanic and tell them what happened and ask if they'll repair it again for free or something? and then have it towed there? don't even know if that is feasible or not...
