Last post for a while.  This has gotten completely out of hand.  I find it ridiculous. I just wanted an opinion on a letter. I never realize it would turn into a personal attack.  It's been fun. I'll see you when I see you.-- Edited by NylaBelle at 08:42, 2005-10-13 -- Edited by NylaBelle at 08:49, 2005-10-13

It was never a personal attack. I never degraded you or your intellect. I think you're jaded on the whole situation, which may be why you deleted everything you wrote; but again, I do not know, because I don't personally know you or know what your intentions are, it is JMO.

Can we just keep replying to this and see if we can create the longest thread in the history of StyleThread?

just a thought since this thread is so long anyway, seems some perception checking and accomodation wasn't done.

The Unwritten Rules of Internet Forum that most people just follow by nature:

when one logs onto a forum and is kinda new, she lurks, reads exchanges between other group members before saying anything herself, and therefore learns about the people in the group and the group itself....This reduces uncertainty, which is key in good communication.  When uncertainty is reduced, she is more likely to make appropriate contributions to the group and less likely to violate any of the group's norms, in short, she will be communicating effectively.

Unfortunately, some people are bombastic and don't take the time to do this.  Not saying I neccessarily thought Boop was being bombastic, but if such a comment had come from someone who had previous positive encounters with Nylabelle, it would have been perceived differently and more constructively.  Even a simple emoticon would have changed the tone drastically.

While I agree with you for the most part, I do not think that a person ahs to use an emoticon to display what they are saying all of the time. If such a little thing as an emoticon has such a bearing on how someone perceives something, then I think the problem is not with the post'er but with the reader. JMO.

ETA: It also occurred to me that not everyone knows unwritten rules, especially if they are new.
