Okay, need some assistance from you northern or southwestern girls. I'm going skiing in late january in Colorado. I know there were post about skiwear last week and that's a different need. What i want to know is would a jacket like this (60% down + water resistant) work for just an outing around town? Should i look for something longer? I live in south florida so warm outerwear isnt something that i have purchased much of. Any other ideas would be great. I got this one off of bluefly.
Hmm. I think that is cute, and would be very acceptable in colorado, in terms of the level of warmth and the style.
If you plan to do anything more formal, or if you wear a lot of skirts, I would get something longer. Also, it tends to be pretty dry here - it gets cold, but we don't get toooons of snow and crazy blowing precipitation, so the waterproof factor isn't as key for day-to-day jackets - that might help you broaden your search.
HTH.

I would get a Columbia or North Face Jacket for skiiing. This coat is cute but I'm not sure how reliable it would be for Colorado weather.
i really like northface jackets. the denali fleece is really lightweight and warm, plus you can easily layer stuff under it. i *think* it's waterproof, but i'm not 100% sure, though i've never had an issue with it.
