looking for a fall coat...
Permalink Closed

so now that it's gotten cold, i think i need a coat for when it is moderately cold... I have lots of cute jackets/blazers for when i don't need anything heavy, and 2 wool coats for winter weather, but i think I need something for 40-50 degree days.

i'm in college so I walk a lot and dress fairly casually during the day, but I am also graduating in the spring so want something I could still use next year

my requirements are: under $200 (cheaper the better!), versatile, something I will want to wear next year as well, not too bulky, and NOT A NORTHFACE. no offense to NF owners, but i think 1/3 people on my campus have them and I want something different....

any suggestions? thanks ladies!

My god. I wish I went to your college. Mine was a freakin' fashion show.  The girls that went to my school wouldn't be caught dead in anything but abercrombie. Bleh! (No offense to abercrombie wearers, but I have issues with the cookie cutter looks)

**Editing because I didn't mean to imply that that coat wasn't fashionable. I meant that I wished things at my school were more casual. :)

$30

I really like this one from Old Navy.  It is mostly casual but could be worn with a slightly more dressy outfit since it is fitted.  I am not an Old Navy fan but I do have an ON spring coat and I love it!  The quality is great (considering the price) and I love the fit (fitted but roomy) and I get a lot of compliments on it.

BTW, I have always refused to by a North Face for the same reason--all the sorority (and many other) girls wore them to class and I wanted to look just a bit more polished.  I have heard they are super warm so now that I am out of college, I am considering buying one, but something is still holding me back!

Thanks LMonet! I will look into the 3rd and 5th gap jackets you posted.. but they are still fairly similar to what i have (blazers, cord trench coat, wool coats, etc.) and i don't know that they would be warm enough if...

JacL- I agree about looking more polished, thats why I wear all my other coats, i try to avoid big old sweatshirts to class.. unless i have an exam!

I guess i need something a little more casual? fleece-like but not northface maybe?

Thanks!
