hair stylist recs in nyc?
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone, i am now in nyc, but i have no internet yet so i can check it once every 24-48 hours. anyway- i was wondering if any nyc girls had any hair stylist recommendations that aren't too expensive- i have long, bland hair, lol, so i don't need a $100+ cut nor a fancy salon setting. Please post recs or leave pm

I like Salon de Quartier in Brooklyn.  My hairstylist's name is Lena.  The haircuts are $60-$70.  I have been going to her for a few years now and I always reccomend her to people.

try mudhoney on sullivan bt prince and houston. ask for danny. he's the sweetest guy. i used to go there and see this other guy for years (5-6 years), but then he stopped cutting hair. since then i am at a loss. i got two great haircuts by this girl at sally hershberger but spent WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much money (but will probably go back.. this girl is a serious whiz with the shears. she takes hair so seriously and cuts with so much percision. it's funny because the hair is choppy and messy). then got a terrible cut at bumble and bumble and it was still kinda expensive.

mudhoney is about $60-75 i think.

also try robert kree. haircuts are like $85 and the salon is gorgeous!

I go to a place called Two Do Salon on the Upper West Side 82nd btw. Broadway and Amsterdam (212) 787-1277.  I go to a guy named Art and he's really good.  I think his cuts are around $75.

I have long, fine hair and his cuts manage to give my hair a little "life".

i love jenny g. at arrojo studio (the salon from 'what not to wear' on TLC). they've expanded to twice their original size since the success of the show, but the prices are reasonable (new clients pay $75 i think) i get tons of compliments on my hair since i've been going to her.

I go to Arrojo also.  Everyone there is terrific -- really talented and so nice and laid back.  Christoph does my cut and Shannon is my colorist.  Definitely worth a try!
