Please help me select a spa treatment...
Permalink Closed

My hubby got me a gift cert. to a local spa for our anniversary and I've never really gotten any spa treatments done (*gasp*, I know, and after this trip I'll probably be hooked, hehe), so I thought I'd show you girls some options I'm looking at and get your advice on which one would be best.  Here are some of the things I'm considering:

1. Sea Dream Tranquility Coccoon & Facial,
A calming and hydrating herbal preparation is
applied after a dry brushing. Feel the stress melt
away as you are cocooned in warmth,
while you receive your spa facial treatment.

2. Full body massage and also an Aveda Facial,
Refresh, revitalize and restore the skin’s natural
balance with steam, facial massage and masque. Recommended for all skin types.

or do you girls have a favorite that you'd like to suggest?  Here is a link to the spa, so you can see what other options are available www.nwaspa.com  Thanks girls!

These are the ones I like:

Stone Therapy
The most popular spa treatment in the country today. Stone therapy combines the powers
of heated and cooled basalt stones to relax the body and bring relief to stressed areas.
The cool stones are placed under a cloth in painful areas, causing a heat response from the body which brings additional blood and oxygen to areas of pain and encourages healing.
The warm stones are placed over your body's energy points and are then used in a Swedish-style massage.

Enzymatic Body Polish & Marine Body Masque
Buff away dry, flaky skin with a mix of plant extracts and enzymes, followed by a soothing, super-moisturizing, seaweed-based body masque.

New, New, New!
The Bio-Ultimate Facial Experience
As seen on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" and "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", we are proud to introduce the Bio-Ultimate Therapeutic Facial.

Utilizing advanced technology to achieve age defying results, the Bio-Ultimate offers treatment that dramatically diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin tone and elasticity, and offers outstanding product penetration for refreshed and supple skin.
(To be fair, I'm drawn in by the Oprah reference.)

I also like the cocoon one you posted but I'm not big on Aveda facials, personally. I can't stand the overwhelming odors so close to my nose.

I like the facial/massage combo, because your skin looks great afterwards and it's relaxing.  I've had a hot stone massage, and it's wonderful.

When I treat myself, I like to schedule the facial first and the massage second, so I am super relaxed at the end.

I agree.  Get the facial and massage duo.  He did good!!  I'm so proud that he got you such a good gift.     Spas are my 2nd weakness too.

I think the facial/massage would be great, especially for your first spa experience. Facials and massages are my favorite spa treatments and this way you would get to experience both.  Also, as blubirde suggested, Stone Massages are so amazing!

I would be wary of any sort of "dry brushing" or "body buffing", as some people's skin is too sensitive for this type of process and many people don't find it relaxing at all. Done correctly, it's a great treatment but many spas aren't equipped to do it properly.

Let us know what you pick!
