This company was supposed to bring me on permanently three weeks ago. The head of HR said something to me and told me that my boss was supposed to contact the staffing agency. Week after week, HR is on this guy's case and he isn't doing anything about it. I'm losing money b/c there is a decent pay increase when I go perm (not to mention health insurance for my aching back!).
My boss is insanely busy and I hate to have to deal with him. He just had the head of IT curse him out this morning and quit, so I don't really think he cares what's going on in stupid receptionist land. What should I do? Should I say something to HR? I just want to know what the crap is going on.
ETA: I know I deserve more money and they are completely taking advantage of the situation, so I need to figure out a way to bring that up, too.
Yup, talk to HR. I would just keep on them until they get him to call the agency - that's their job! Could you shoot your boss a sympathetic email? So he knows that you're acknowledging he's super busy, but that you really need this to be taken care of a promptly as possible?

can you just make a pre-emptive call to the agency yourself? i would think that the agency gets a kickback once you are made a perm. employee, too, so i would think they would be more than happy to push the HR person. also, when you talk to the agency, you should mention that this was supposed to happen three weeks ago and insist that they make sure your increase is retroactive to the real date.

i agree with this. also, don't be afraid to talk to the HR department directly- and your boss for that matter! he may be swamped, but you deserve to be taken care of. this should be a priority for him. good luck!
