STYLETHREAD -- LET'S TALK SHOP!

Oh my gosh, my husband is the hugest Yankee fan, and his best friend is the hugest Red Sox fan (hard to believe a friendship can overcome that!).  He was driving my crazy last night, flipping between both games and calling his friend.

"We" (read = him) have rearrange all of our weekend plans for those #@*$& games.

oh my god, my butt is going to be parked on the couch all weekend (that is, when i'm not nervously pacing)!  i've already broken plans for tonight because i found out that espn will be airing the game (i don't get to see very many games out here in sf!).  i should probably apologize to my friends in advance because i'll definitely be putting baseball before friendship if the sox make it into the playoffs.

i'm kinda worried about our pitching (especially our bullpen), but the yankee pitching staff hasn't been very impressive or consistent either.  tomorrow's matchup will be amazing- johnson vs. wakefield, the two aces!  (i know that schilling is supposedly our "ace," but i really think that wakefield deserves that title- he has been the most consistent.) 

sweater girl, i totally feel you- i'm trying not to get my hopes up too much (we red sox fans have dealt with enough disappointment over the years to get too optimistic), but you're right- anything can happen! 

GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hehehe - i love trash talking too.  I don't hate the Red Sox at all normally, just when they are playing my team!  Sorry, but we are going to KILL you guys!

That being said - I do agree that this is going to be a great series.  I was actually hoping they they would play eachother first round.

uhhhhh, heard of manny ramirez and david ortiz???  manny is one of the best hitters ever to play the game and big papi is an AL MVP candidate- as a DH!  they are our two offensive stars, but our whole lineup is powerful.  i have no doubt in my mind that when we're hot, we can outscore any team in the majors.

take a look at this.  http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/stats/sortable_team_stats.jsp?c_id=mlb&baseballScope=mlb&statType=1&sitSplit=&timeSubFrame=2005&groupByTeam=true&Submit=Submit&timeFrame=1  boston leads the majors in runs scored, hits, RBIs, on-base percentage, and batting average.  the cardinals are a great team, there's no denying that.  they won 100 games during the regular season, due in large part to their incredible pitching and defense.  but are they a better offensive team than the red sox?  absolutely not!!!  (and we handled them pretty well last year when we swept them in the world series!)  shoot, i hate the yankees with a burning passion, but i'd say that they're one of the only teams who are as dangerous offensively as the sox- definitely better than the cards.

sorry, but baseball is one of my passions and i'll always defend my red sox!  especially when the numbers back me up
