Fun Drink Recipes
Permalink Closed

Ok, one or two of my friends are coming in from out of town.  I live by myself and never carry alcohol in my apt.  and have no glassware for it either.  We won't be drinking here much, but would like to have some things here for when they come in and before we go out on the town drinking.  Trying to think of one nice/creative/neat drink recipe, maybe using flavored vodka or something.  And would need to also know what to do as far as glassware, something cheap but neat i could pick up tomorrow, as they are gonna be here tomorrow at 5pm.

are you looking to make a pitcher of something so that you guys will all drink the same thing? this is the easiest and what i usually do if a bunch of people are coming over.  and then i also will keep beer and wine in the fridge in case anyone doesn't like the cocktail i made.

one of my faves that is easy to make is sangria, and i also sometimes will make cosmos (if it's a group of girls), manhattans, or french 75 (which is champagne, gin, lemon juice and some sugar--it's light).  i will try to find recipes to post for you.

Yummy, all those drinks sound really good... Hope you guys can post the exact recipes for them!!!  As I have no clue how to make them.... Also, what types of glassware do you serve these drinks in? And where could I get some cheap but nice glasses and such?

I think sangria or mojitos are good ideas. I've had both served in different kinds of glasses - sangria in stemware or a highball glass, mojitos in highball and old fashioned/tumbler glasses. So just get whatever seems most practical.

I also love Moscow Mules which aren't very popular in the US anymore but I drank tons of them in Japan. It's just vodka, ginger beer (you could use ginger ale instead) and a bit of lime juice. The measurements vary but it's usually 2 oz vodka, 1 or 2 oz lime juice and then fill the rest of the glass with the soda.

I can't get the Target site to load right now but I'm sure they have good options. Crate and Barrel has nice glassware. These are $2.95 each.

Try ross or tjmax for cheap drinkware sometimes they have great boxed sets of drink glasses. I would get large gobblets they could be good for most drinks.

I second mojitos. I'm still working on my version of a mojito made with with coconut rum and mango puree.

You can prep the following in advance for your mojito.

Make simple syrup by boiling a cup of water to 2 cups sugar. Once water begins to boil add sugar and stir till disolved. let cool and you have a cup of simple syrup which can be used for atleast a week. Some people make the simple syrup using two parts water and one part sugar but i think it works best the other way around.  It's thicker and richer but i use less.

For three people, I would pre-squeeze about 6 limes.

Always use fresh mint and lots of it.

The thing with mojitos is that everyone likes them differently. I like mine with tons of mint and lime juice while i have a friend who likes her less lime and more sweet.

I would experiment and see what your preference is. Use the recipe that Deuce gave you using regular or raspberry rum.  I do mine by adding mint leaves to a shaker, follow with simple syrup and mash the mint leaves up with a spoon (this releases the mint essence into the syrup), add lime juice, ice and rum and shake the hell out of it (or stir it like mad), pour into glass top off with a swig of club soda and fresh mint leaf.

Enjoy

since someone mention mango my mouth began to water. I love mango margaritas blended.

Use mango puree

shot of tequila

12 shot of triple sec

Ice

Mango puree (dont need a lot)

sweet and sour mix

blender

sooo good.

You can also use meyers mango rum with sprite and a splash of cran. I don't know if it has a name I just made it at work when we got the mango meyers in as and experiment. Pretty good
