my friend owes me $$$

we went on a vacation together and i paid for everything. flights, hotel, and some other stuff. she has tons of $$. and i have asked her for it back several times. she says, "okay" but never actually gives it back. i'm changing jobs, to a commission only one, so it sure would be nice for her to give it back. she one of my best friends.

anyone have any ideas on how to shake her down?

maybe you should explain to her what you just told us, that you are changing jobs, and that you really need the money for etc, etc.

Go over to her place for dinner or drinks or something and say, oh, before I forget, can I get that check from you? I'm going to the bank tomorrow and I really want to get my finances in order before I start the new job, etc., etc., etc.

I'm a big fan of the cornering approach. People (esp. friends) don't mean to not pay other people back, they just forget or don't realize how important it is, at least that's my opinion.
