Help me pick a boot!
Permalink Closed

Here's my dilemma...I bought these boots (in brown) over the weekend. I have been looking for the right pair for YEARS because boots are always too loose on my legs.

To wear with jeans tucked in, denim skirts, and this dress with a chunky brown sweater:

I also tried on these and fell in love:

I was wearing cuffed jeans that slouched perfectly at the top of the boot, and I just felt so chic.

So I'm torn - do I get them in black or brown? I'm leaning towards brown, but is it silly when I don't really have a pair of black boots? And what can I wear with them with besides jeans?

Thanks girls!!

To be honest, I don't like those bottom ones in black as much as brown, so I'd get brown. I think the top boots are very classic & if you have trouble finding them to fit you, you could wear these in years to come. The bottom ones are a whole different look & I don't think it's silly to have several pair of brown boots. As a matter of fact I have 3 pair of brown boots now that I think about it. But they are all different (harness, shearling, & croc skin) so I don't feel bad about it at all!

Do you really really need tall black boots this season? I am thinking I can make it through the fall & winter with my 3 pair of brown boots - but maybe that's just me.

ETA - i love both pairs of those boots BTW.

They are so divine I woul be tempted to get both colors, but since we are being practical here go for the black.

I just think dark brown suede looks so gorgeous so I'd pick the brown ones. They are fabulous!

Those boots are gorgeous. I like both colors, but if I really had to chose I'd go with brown. I think you can wear them with a lot more things.

I may be biased, but I like them a lot better in brown though I understand what you mean about not wanting to buy brown boots when you already have brown, but not black.  I just think that the brown suits them better.

I really love them in both colors.  Black is back in a big way this fall/winter, so I say go with the black.  That way you'll get good use out of the brown ones you already bought (beautiful!) and the black slouchy ones.

I like both colors equally, so I'd have to say go with the black because you've got the very similar brown pair already.

I like the brown a lot, but if you don't already have black boots...then I'd go with the black.

Or, you could get them in the brown and then look for a pair of black leather boots to be your more functional pair...suede is a bit higher-maintenance, so you might not want to wear the slouchy ones as much in bad winter weather.

Do you mind sharing the brand on the first ones you posted? I am looking for black boots to fit my calves...no luck locally, but I'd be inclined to try Zappos for them if you like what you got.

No problem - they are all Via Spiga, and I got the tall ones at the Via Spiga store for $330.  Zappos has them, but only in black.

And thanks for all the great feedback everyone!  You guys are awesome.  I PROMISE to post threadstyle pics of both boots ASAP!
