Maybe it's because I'm on a salad kick? I am in lurve with butter lettuce - my grocery sells it in a "live" head with roots & all I for whatever reason I think it's the greatest evah. I would really prefer to mix it equally with Romain lettuce, but quite frequently my grocery & even my secondary grocery has below standard romain. So what other kind of lettuce do you like? I am open to trying most anything except a "common" head of lettuce - I am such a lettuce snob! How in the heck does that happen???
Please, oh please tell me that it's not just me!!! I editted this because I really really feel bad about what a snob i've become...

I buy the prepackaged salad mix, and my favorite is the field green mix (I think? I don't even know if that's the right name of what I buy...obviously it's been awhile since I bought any ). Anyways, it's just like a mix of different types of gourmetish lettuce. I love this with any type of vinagrette type dressing, especially Ken's Steak House Lite Raspberry Walnut Vinagrette. This is also really good mixed with a little bit of bleu cheese dressing, oh I love bleu cheese!

I am also a lettuce snob! I hate iceberg lettuce, and for that reason often bypass the side salad at many restaurants. My favorite mix is romaine and spinach. I also like butter and green leaf lettuces.
I was pretty excited last week when I found a new prepackaged salad consisting of romaine and butter lettuce--you should look around for it!

I second the romaine and spinach combo - that's my favorite.
When I find it, I buy the boston lettuce. It is so nice and tender, but it requires careful washing as it's often full of ground (don't know how to say this in english!) Otherwise, I buy romaine lettuce. Or I love arugola, but it's too expensive...
I am glad I am not the only lettuce nut! I eat it almost every day!
ETA that here they call boston lettuce the butter lettuce
This is a great poll. I'm definitely a lettuce snob. Growing up, my dad insisted (in a good way) that there be a salad every night as part of dinner. It was my job to make it.
We grew red and green leaf lettuce so i love them still. I love Boston Bibb and spring mix. If i can find mache, that is my favorite. It's a very tender green that resembles dandelion.
I too have to confess that I'm a lettuce snob. Iceberg lettuce- yuck! I like romaine and field greens. I've also tried butter lettuce and loved it. Yum...I'm craving salad now.
