My trip to DSW
Permalink Closed

The only time I have visited the DSW store in my area (it's been there less than a year, I think) was last spring when I was shopping for shoes for my MOG outfit. I didn't find anything and I wasn't impressed with the store's offerings.

Well, yesterday I stopped by, just to see if anything has changed. I looked at my usual brands: Stuart Weiztman, Cole Hahn etc--not much there. Then something on a different aisle caught my eye and--

For the price of one pair of SW's (full price that is) I bought four pairs of shoes!

Normally I have to buy a 10 1/2 to get a shoe that fits reasonably well. 10 1/2 is a tough size--many stores don't stock over a 10, and if they do, they only order one or two pairs in the larger sizes.

Well, guess what? With the rounder toed shoes, I only need a 9 1/2 or a 10!

Life just got a lot simpler. Now I'm going to send back the pointy-toed SW's I just bought from Zappos (they are too narrow anyway and squeeze my toes too much.)

I bought brown tweed pumps from Hype,
Gold sequin slides from Caparro
Merlot suede slingbacks, Etienne Aigner
Teal velvet pumps with some "jewels" from Joey.

The only brand I've heard of before is the Aigner.

Okay, I have long feet with high arches that are spreading out because those high arches are falling. I have to put metatarsal pads in my shoes. As a kid I had to wear Dr. Mason's Orthopedic shoes. They came in two styles: black oxford and brown oxford. Most of my adult life has been spent in sandals or sneakers, except for the years when I was practicing law and I wore brown, black or gray low-heeled pumps. I was one of the first-wave of women who graduated from law schools in the '70s--very Dress for Success. In the winter I usually wear boots when I have to dress up.

Thanks to DSW and rounder toed shoes, I'm breaking out of my shoe rut.

Now I just have to figure out where DH is going to take me so I can wear the sequined slides.

yay for you!  new shoes always make you feel like a brand new person (or at least, for me they do!).

Too funny! I went to DSW yesterday as well. I found caramel leather Naturalizers. The style is perfect for fall, a comfort slip on that look like clogs under jeans. Better yet, I had a coupon so they were 20 bucks cheaper than the pair at the mall.
There's nothing more fun than a new pair of shoes.
