Short Trip - What to pack
Permalink Closed

I could refer back to my Lucky Shopping Manual, but I really don't have time. LOL I'll be taking a SHORT (Mom and I leave tomorrow) to Shreveport, LA to attend my Grandmother's funeral. She passed away last week Wednesday, and her funeral is Thurs. @ 10:00a. We (as stated) leave tomorrow, and I think we'll be heading back home Friday morning or afternoon. I SOOOO do NOT want to over pack, like I always do, so what should I take? Also, for beauty products (I have WAYYY too many to be carrying, maybe a GOOD facial soap?) I pretty much know what I'll be wearing to the funeral, even tho' I'm tired of wearing that dress, but it does the job. PLEASE HELP.

First of all, I'm SO sorry. I know that's so hard.

If you are in Austin, I'm assuming you are driving to Shreveport? And I know it is still steaming there. If you are just going to be in the car for 4 - 5 hours on wed & friday, i'd go for complete comfort. Do you have any juicy-ish pants? Or gauchos? or a pair of capris that are comfortable? If it were me, I'd pack one pair of comfy pants, maybe 2 tanks or tees, a hoodie in case I got a chill in the car (maybe it's me?) undies, funeral clothes, pjs, and try to wear the same shoes there & back - usually shoes & beauty products are my downfall when packing. I personally would rather be comfy in the car on such a trip. Unless you are going somewhere Wed night then really you shouldn't need many clothes? I also try to pack the same shade of clothes so I can pack minimal make up colors.

I feel like I'm babbling. But i'm in the midst of packing myself. What I TRY my hardest to do, is figure out what I'm going to be doing the whole time I'm there & pack for those things ONLY. The other suggestion I have for you is that if you are going to have to be at an "after" affair to please have something comfortable with you to change into. I know when my grandfather died in Feb, we went to a church hall for food after & then to my grandmothers & I was stuck in my "dress" clothes while everyone else brought jeans to change into to. Just a thought.

Sorry if that's no help, but I have erased this twice & it always comes out about the same, so I figure maybe it's what I"m supposed to say!

You & your family are in my thoughts & prayers.

Thank you laken1 and ranchera20 for your kind words, I do appreciate that. Well, after talking things over w/Mom, we'll be coming back home shortly after the funeral, since our FUNDS (end of the month) are quite limited. So far (laken) I have packed 1 tank top, 1 long sleev shirt (since I'm ALWAYS cold), and they're both in white! LOL (Great minds). Some white shorts, and I was ALSO thinking of wearing some capris down there, but I may wear some black shorts/T-shirt, FOR COMFORT. Thanks again for your suggestions. I may just take a FEW make-up products, since it's more or less an over night trip (neutral colors). And - one pr. of shoes, which can be worn casual, AND also w/the dress I'll be wearing. ranchera20 - the weather down in Shreve is ALMOST like it is here in Austin - pretty dang HOT & humid.
