It's at a resturant/bar the friday of thanksgiving weekend. I'm married and my husband is coming with. my prom date, that i'll never (secretly..tho i supposed not a secret anymore) be really over will be there (ALONE!) and well...i was a BIG dork in highschool. so....I need a great outfit but one that's not trying too hard and not too trend-ified but still comfy and sexy.
i'd love to wear jeans and a hot top, but i feel like that's too young, even tho that's my weekend outfit all the time in NY. i just can't get the vibe down.
what else can i tell you? it's a suburb of DC so not deep south and not new england...normal, preppy, trendy people that seem to have all moved to NYC.
Hmmm...I'd do grey pants, a cute cami, and a velvet blazer with pretty dangly earrings and heels. I'll try to put together a look this evening when I get home, cuz I have something cute in mind.
I don't know if I would wear jeans unless they were more dress up trouser style. If your going to buy something, I would make sure it's something you will continue to wear. I would go with a sophisticated look (shouldn't we all be after 10 years?) but not looking like you were trying. I just looked at Banana Republic.
I just went to my 10 year HS reunion in July. It was in Maryland (about 2 hours from DC) and I wore a black enbroidered BCBG cami/top and white pants. I felt very comfortable and appropriately dressed. You obviously can't wear white pants but what about a nice top and some wide leg pants/trousers with great accessories? Then, you could wear a wrap if you wanted to be a little more dressed up or a nice coat or blazer if you wanted to be more casual. This isn't quite right but something along the lines of this outfit.

WHERE??? i'm from Potomac!
Thanks everyone for your great ideas! Keep them coming...if you don't mind. I could always wear these great outfits to work!
velvet blazer is perfectly in fashion, but normal enough...i have a brown one but it's kinda outdated. hmmm. i have a short sleeve black one from arden i just wore, but i may be too chilly.
gotta figure out the pants....and shoes, and cami and everything!
I have mine this weekend in Atlanta and it is at a the upstairs part of a pair that holds private parties. I am wearing either a cute wrap dress by Diane von Furstenburg or a brown matte jersey dress that is v-neck and sleeveless with a jean jacket to dress it down. I am adding some great jewelery and some high heeled pumps. I think I will be in between dressy and underdressed.
This is kind of what I'm envisioning, except I'm not sure I like these shoes with it. The heel seems a little extreme, but other than that, that's the outfit I would wear to a reunion.
I like the bottom half of maddies outfits- i'm not crazy about the top. Not because I don't love it (I do), but because I feel like most guys wouldn't "get" it. Not that you're dressing for that guy in particular, but i'm sure part of you wants to show how your hs class how hot you are So I think you should do something a little more sexy, but still not trying too hard. I don't have any suggestions yet, i'll look around. Love the shoes though.
