Okay, my friend who was supposed to go with me bailed on me. Grrr. I really want to go, but I'm not too thrilled about driving up there myself. What about trains? Is that a doable option from Philly? Grrr.
FH and I have taken Greyhound from NYC to Philly.. took us less than 2 hrs.
Hmmm...I'm not so thrilled about taking a bus by myself, especially since I'll be coming back later at night. Grrrr. I might have to try to round up another friend who wants to go, but none of my other friends really like that kind of stuff.
Hi Nylabelle, you can take a train. Here is an itinerary I found using a Philly train station and NY Penn Station. You can play around on www.njtransit.com to use more accurate starting and ending addresses. Just go to www.njtransit.com and click "trip planner" on the left.

I take the train a lot from DC to Philly and NYC. It's more $$$ than the bus, but you could take the amtrak from 30th St. station or Wilmington, DE into NY. Also, there are trains that go from the outskirts of Philly into NY, like from the King of Prussia area, but I am not familiar with the schedules.
It's so easy, you should absolutely go, and I wish I could too!!

Yeah, the trains on the outskirts are SEPTA (it's the regional rail and I'm pretty familar with it since I used it college). My office building is actually right next to one of these stations. Unfortunately, they stop running around 10pm, which would not work for me. I think Amtrak might be the easiest way to go since I can schedule that for later at night. I can drive into 30th Street and park my car there.
