my letter of complaint- atlanta bread *Update

i'm emailing this- i'll let you know how they respond:

Hi, I came in to your store today and ordered the half sandwich (curried chicken)/half salad (balsamic bleu salad- my favorite) combo and a bowl of french onion soup for my friend.  I asked for the salad to go because I was going to eat it later (i wasn't very hungry) and i ordered my curried chicken sandwich on nine grain bread with only lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.  As soon as I received my order, there was mayonnaise on the sandwich, it was on a roll, and the salad wasn't to go.  The employees promptly and nicely fixed my sandwich, and someone put the salad in a box.  I didn't say anything about the bread and the roll was really good, so I didn't care that the bread was different.  I had no problem with the customer service.  However, I just opened my salad- it has been a few hours and i am hungry.  There is absolutely NO bleu cheese on it.  Not even one crumb.  This is my favorite part about the salad and it is very hard to eat without it- too tangy.  I don't know if they forgot it or it stuck to the bowl when someone made it to-go, but i feel that that is the most crucial part of the salad.
In general, i have very positive things to say about your chain, and my sandwich was great.  Your employees were very nice and fixed the problem.  My complaint is with the order accuracy.  I am unsure why they made the balsamic bleu salad without blue cheese, and why my sandwich order was wrong when it was typed in correctly (I saw the ticket, it said *plain *lettuce *tomatoe *red onion.) I didn't mind the problem when I was eating in your store, but with to-go orders, this store needs to learn to be more accurate as most people do not want to drive back to the store hours later.
I hate to complain about Atlanta Bread (i have happily visited at least once a week for the past year or so), but I was upset about this salad, and this has been happening a lot to me (not at your store, but with stores in general) and i'm starting to get fed up!  I'm tired of giving my money away and not getting what i paid for!
Thank you.

UPDATE

Lol, the owner of the store just called me twice (missed calls) and left a message with his cell phone number in it.  He apologized, invited me to come in for a free salad on him...Geez, very nice, but now i feel almost embarrassed, he was like, "i'm soo sorry, mistakes happen, come in for a free salad, here's my cell #".  Its just so personal, i'm almost cringing, like i don't want his employees to know me as that girl that complains too much.  I think i might take him up on it, but i hope those same employees aren't there!  Good thing I said they were nice.

You might want to mention in your letter which store you were at.  If you can't find a specific store number, tell them the location of the store, so they can figure it out.  Also, in your last paragraph you say that this "has been happening a lot lately (not at your store, but at stores in general) and I'm starting to get fed up!"  I would leave that sentence out.  They are not responsible for the customer service you receive in any place other than Atlanta Bread, so they might just take this as complaining for the sake of complaining and write your whole letter off, which is obviously not what you're looking for.  Generalizations like "I'm tired of giving my money away and not getting what I paid for!" will also just make them not want to listen to you.  Stick to the specifics and you'll probably get a good response from them.

eh- i already sent it- i don't even care if they write it off.  I was mad, and i still am.  This is more just an experiment for me, if i get a good response despite the tone of my letter, then i will be happy and keep eating there, if not, i'll switch to panera or roly-poly, my other favorite store.

There is a form at the top of the comments box- it makes you tell them the location, how far it is, the time you went in, the date..etc. so they have that part covered.

I think your tone is fine. I am very proud of you - I always get mad & say I'm going to call & complain or something & then it wears off & i never do. GOOD FOR YOU. Sorry about your salad - that really sucks.

Ugh! I HATE that! It happened to me twice this weekend- once at CPK (I ordered a bacon and gorgonzola salad and they forgot the gorgonzaola.... which bascially resulted in them giving me a plate of lettuce...) and once at the diner (um, my patty melt had no onions on it. and the waiter argued with me about it!). I wish I had thought to complain more then I did! How can you leave out the main ingredient of a dish?

I'm glad you sent this.  Something like that happens to me almost every time I go to Panera.  So they may be getting a letter from me soon.  You know what else frustrates me about Atlanta Bread (and Panera for that matter)?  The paninis come pre-made so you can't order them without the stuff you don't like.  They would make lots more money off me if I could order them without the weird sauces. . .

That was nice he offered you a free salad, kinda odd though that he gave you his cell phone number. Anywho, you should definitely accept his gesture. Don't worry about the employees, you're moving soon anyways, right? I ate there tonight because that salad sounded really good. Thankfully they didn't forget the bleu cheese. I agree though that it wouldn't have tasted so good without it.

ejc423 - I love their paninis but had no idea they were pre-made. That kinda doesn't make them sound so appealing now.
