pirate wench!

So my boyfriend and I have decided to be Captain Morgan and his pirate wench for Halloween... I am giggling just typing it. Now I need some help assembling the wench's outfit! I am thinking girly version of Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean--I need to watch it again, and check out the costume of that beautiful girl that slapped him, I can't remember the actress's name. So I'm thinking: colorful silk bandanna, huge gold hoops, blous-ey pirate shirt, tight little cropped vest, military jacket, ruffled mini, tights, boots. I have boots but am lacking everything else.

Essentially this is just an excuse to break the shopping ban--because I figure I should get things I can wear again, if possible, rather than just blow $$ on goofy stuff I will never wear... although it's tough to imagine how else I will wear a vest or a pirate shirt.

Ideas?

Haha!! My bf and I were talking about doing the same thing. That's hilarious.  I haven't come up with costumes yet, though.

I went as one about 9 years ago & had a ton of fun creating my outfit.  I scoured some thrift stores & found a puffy shirt (a la Seinfeld) & cut the bottom & frayed the ends.  I also found a black denim skirt which I also cut & frayed the hems.  My girlfriend kept a scrap of the denim & created an eye-patch for me.  I had some cool boots & scarf that we wrapped around my head.  The gold hoops were easy to find & we threw on some cheap gold chains to create the effect.

If you don't mind, hit up the thrift stores so you don't feel guilty about the shopping ban.  Good luck & have fun!

I think adding a corset over the outfit kealoha suggested would be fun!  And don't forget some thick gold hoops in your ears, too .

I would hit up the Goodwill or Salvation Army. You're bound to find some sort of horrible blousy shirt for cheap...and you won't feel like you have to wear it again. Plus, all your pieces will have that great mismatched pirate-y feel to them.

everytime I see this thread, I think of these recent fuggings...

Dirty Fug

Jenny McCarthy was really inspired when she learned that her new movie was premiering on National Talk Like a Pirate Day:

She looks like a cocktail waitress at the Jolly Roger crossed with a lingerie model at Sears.  Seriously. Is that even outerwear?

Two Times a Fugging

Jenny McCarthy had National Talk Like A Pirate Day (plus her own innate poor taste). But what's Nicole Richie's excuse?

Despite that whole human bobblehead thing she's got going on, Nicole usually looks rather nice on the red carpet -- but that thing is swallowing her whole. Maybe I should just be happy that at least something in this picture is eating.
