I've had it with my hair getting split ends. I stopped buying good conditioner and went with drugstore stuff to try to save money but my hair is suffering for it.

I need help! What do you girls think is the best conditioner out there for long straight/wavy hair? I'm not concerned with frizzies really, just something that will keep the color and keep me from getting split ends.

Help!

I have long thick curly hair and I love Pantene Smooth and Sleek or something. I've tried everything (like $50 bottles of shampoo) cause my hair is out of control, but this is great and especially for the price. My sister who has long thick straight/wavy hair also uses it.

I've been using Biolage Ultra Hydrating Balm and love it.  My hair is really thick and I spend a lot of time blow-drying.  I only apply it to ends otherwise my hair will get too oily in the scalp.

Ditto everything she said, down to the really thick hair.  I the stuff.

I have to veto the Biolage.  I found that about halfway through the bottle my hair seemed to develop an "immunity" to it, and started getting really dried out.  It was the same with all of the Matrix products.

I have tried Aveda Tree Sap, Redken AllSoft, the Matrix products (Biolage, Sleek and Straight, etc), Aveda Shampure, KPak, and Bumble & Bumble.  Here is what I have found works the best:

Redken AllSoft - I actually made it through a whole liter sized bottle and my hair didn't start drying out.  This is great, because my hair loves to develop an immunity to conditioners.

KPak - I'm only about a quarter through a liter bottle, but so far my hair is beautiful.  And people have noticed how soft and shiny looking it is.  This stuff is expensive if you buy it in the small bottles, or the liters separately - try to find it in a 2-liter combo deal.  I found one at my local beauty store, and the 2 liters were $35 together.  Not too bad.

Bumble & Bumble - I've only had little tiny bottles of this stuff, but I like to use the Gentle conditioner once in a while as a treat for my hair.  This stuff is expensive!  But ooo, it smells good, makes my hair soft...

After my conditioner, before I brush my hair and blowdry it, I spritz either RedKen So Long Heat Treat on it, or this Aveda stuff.  I definitely recommend the Redken So Long Heat Treat.  It makes my hair super soft, protects it when I dry it, and makes my hair easy to comb out.  It also doesn't weigh my hair down.  Redken has another product for protecting your hair when blowdrying, but it's heavier and goopier.  Definitely go with the one for long hair.

I hope some of this helps!  I never have split ends, and my hair is super soft, so I think some of this has to be working.

How about hot oil treatments? They're not conditioner, but then you can use your regular conditioner daily and the treatments weekly. They're under $10 at the drugstore and you use them in the shower. They've worked for me in the past.

Oooohhh- I just discovered Fresh's Meadowfoam Cream Treatment Conditioner - it says "Restore [overprocessed hair]" under that. It's magical. They lured me in at bluemercury by giving me a sample one day and I had to go back and buy the whole bottle - my hair was silky-silky after. I use it as a 10 minute deep conditioner once a week - other days I use terax crema.

My hair is super-duper thick and curly/wavy and I have highlights - this really makes it shiny, soft, and manageable

try this--don't rinse the conditioner out.  sounds grubby i know but my stylist told me that whenever possible, keep the conditioner in.  don't apply to the roots, comb it through, and just pat dry.  i do this whenever i know i'm going to be wearing my hair up/in a bun.  that way, when i do wash it out, my hair is ultra shiny.  my stylist also told me not to wash my hair that often, only every other day max.

as for brands, i swear by ecoly sage weightless conditioner, found in most beauty supply stores.

hth!
