Question about tall boots

I just ordered a pair of tall brown leather boots from BR. The top of the boots are not completely snug - I'd say there's about 3/4 of an inch of space between my leg and the boot. Are tall boots supposed to be completely snug on your calves? (I tried on a JCrew pair last week, and they were so loose, they might as well have been wellies.....these aren't as bad, but still.....?)

I have this problem *constantly*. Boots are never snug around my calves. Half the time they aren't snug around my ankles. I don't have super-thin legs, but it really bothers me, and I don't always want to spend $70 or so to have them taken in. You're not alone...

I'm sorry you have the same problem as me. :( So, do you wear the boots even though they're not snug around your calves, or do you get them taken in before wearing? I'm just trying to find out if they will look stupid or "wrong" because they're not snug.....

same here. I also find that as shoe sizes increase, they increase the width of the leg, too. A lot of times a size 6 boot will be the right shaft size, but in my size (8) it's too big.  I think a company would make a lot of money if they sold their boots in calf sizes -- like Narrow, Medium & Extended.  I would pay an extra $50 or so for that option.


I actually think this season, it's becoming fashionable for boots to be a bit looser.
