Another board I frequent is in self-destruct mode, completely overrun by snarky trolls. There is a ridiculous amount of arguing and flaming even from longtime members over what someone did or did not say or mean in their post(s) and how or why it is offensive.
It makes me ever more appreciative of this community and all the people, new and old, who contribute to this forum and make it the diverse and respectful place that it is. It is strange how close you can feel to people that you don't actually *know*.
I love that people here get concerned when others don't post for awhile, or how they get genuinely worried when a STer is in a difficult real-life situation. I love how people here take the time to remember what you say, so each time you post a question or concern it's like talking to an old friend who already knows all about it. I love the diversity of opinions and the different perspectives.
I consider having a group of almost 600 (!) intelligent people at my fingertips to go to for almost anything such an awesome gift.
Thanks to DC and Detroit for spending so much time making (and keeping) this site what it is, and to everyone else who comes here to post!
I you all!

awww! WAH!!! you're welcome! it's definitely a labor of the heart but we're nothing without the readers and posters on the forum - I know how you feel with this - I have often thought it and tried to articulate before it but I think everyone brushed me off as being too gushy-sappy
Can you believe it? Almost 600 members? And it is an amazing group of women - all compassionate, caring, and smart. We can talk about which bag to buy, then have a heated discussion on a current event, then cheer each other on with our accomplishments and life events... I always feel lucky to be a part of this community.

This is quite a cool community here. I became an active member here back in July (I think) and everyone was so welcoming. It didn't take me long to feel like I was part of the group and I think that's really cool.
I don't want to slam other boards, but I was on the Lucky forum for awhile and never really got the sense of community there that I felt here. It's a fine forum for fashion and stuff, but this forum has a lot more topics to talk about and I think the people here are much nicer. People here are really good about giving constructive criticism instead of just being all snarky about it.
I dont have too many girlfriends so I'm really glad I found you guys! You guys are all great people
Ditto. My friends have flown the coup since they all coupled off. So, it's nice to have you ladies around. I also like that we have a decent age range and different walks of life. Too bad you ladies aren't around on a Saturday night when I want to go out dancing and my boring friends have their a$$ parked on the couch watching TV.
Me too! I've wanted to start a topic like this also, LMonet. I don't know what I'd do without ST. I started posting in the Dating & Relationships thread one day when I was desperate and needed someone else's opinion and ever since that day, I've realized what a great group of women are on this board and we can talk about stuff other than the new "black."
Hey, don't thank us - thank yourselves! You guys ARE the community.
It's funny - my friends who aren't on here really don't "get it." And it's hard to explain to people who haven't been here, but this group of people really is different & special.

That's what I'm screaming! Don't forget that wonderful friendships really can sprout online. Vanessa is one of my closest friends and we met on the Lucky forum a very long time ago. Of course, it is always a blast when we are out and guys ask how we met. One time we told a guy that we met online and he asked if we were a couple. (Then he added - because that would be really cool.) HA!! He wished - he probably wanted us to make out. MEN!
I heart my ST friends!!

I agree one hundred percent! I talk to you guys more then I talk to my "non ST" friends. I am pretty sure I know what website LMONET is referring to and even before it was getting overtaken by trolls, I never felt there the sense of maturity, friendship and caring that I do here. It's great to talk about fashion and all, but I have gotten so much advice on real life situations, and laughed at silly celebrity stuff, and discussed so many issues here on ST that I love coming here to chat about whatever and know I will never be judged or ignored.
Thanks ST girls!! You are a part of my everyday life and I love you guys!!
I agree. I soooo love stylethread. I'm ADDICTED! lol There's so many awesome ladies who are always so helpful and understanding. I love you guys! (eerr, girls) lol
Thank you very much dc & detriot for allowing us to share this forum!
I totally agree. I love you guys. I'm a fairly new member (since May-ish) and I'm more of a casual poster but I do read and follow the boards pretty regularly. I feel like I know you guys. Its funny, whenever I bring up things to my friends that I found on here they laugh at the idea of a "shopping forum" and I have to try to explain its so much more than that. You guys are some of the most intelligent, talented, and strong women around. It just shows its not the ditzy airheads that are into fashion. Yes, we like fashion but I love the we can also talk about current events and relationships.
