Great cheapies

What are some super-cheap things you got a lot of mileage out of? Not necessarily stuff you got at a deep discount, but stuff that was cheap to begin with?

My favorites:

-a pearl/silver chain necklace from Target. It cost me about $3 on clearance last year, and I must wear it at least 2x/week

-my Forever 21 black cotton blazer -- $20. One of the best-fitting clothing items I own.

-Wet Seal black matte jersey sheath dress -- about $30. Bought it in 2000, still my favorite dress ever.

-Bronze hobo from TJMaxx, some no-name brand. It was about $50-60. It seriously goes with everything.

Men's black FOTL wifebeaters (got the idea from this board, and they were a staple ALL summer).

F21 red cord blazer

Gold hoops from Claire's that were like $1 (wear them ALL the time)

I got this AMAZING turquoise necklace in India for like $10 that I wear all the time. It's just huge walnut sized chunks of turquoise. I love it so much.

I got this great tweed blazer for like $30 at Old Navy last year that I wear all the time.

Hanes wifebeaters. I wear them probably 4 days a week.

I have this really cool vintage brown leather satchel with brass hardware that I got for free at the dump.

I got this bathing suit for like $10 total last year in July at J.Crew. I may never buy another swim suit, this one's perfect.

And lastly, a gray 3/4 sleeved zip up hooded sweater from Old Navy for like $20.

I would have to say that my brown Target skirt wins the prize here.  Other than that, here are a few:

  • Brown gauchos from Wet Seal

  • My big bronze bag from Rampage (it holds all of my stuff and then some, looks good with almost anything and was on sale for $35!)

  • Pink Target wedges from this past summer- I've worn them to death

  • My LBD- it's from Wet Seal and it's super flattering and very comfy

It was a dump on this tiny island in Puget Sound. Apparently it's like this on all of these islands, I don't know abuut all dumps. But people bring stuff and then the people who own the dump sort it out into stuff that's still good, and anything anyone might want they just set out and you can just take it. I got some jewelery, some hats, and another purse too. Some of my friends also got shoes and board games and other random stuff.

i have some cheap bags i love- one from ae (the blue bow bag) and a teal one from nordstrom.  Neither were over $20.  They are great when i don't want to be bothered by an expensive bag (outdoor things, baseball games, school) and go with most of my clothes.  I wear my flip flops to death- my havaianas (not the cheapest flips but cost per wear is extremely low) are worn almost every day in the summer.  my white old navy beater and gap favorite tank are worn a ton.  my favorite shorts were like $10 from ae (one was $6, one was $10, one was $20 maybe? from store, the rest were from resale stores)- they are basically the only ones i wear (i have a size 4, a 6 and an 8- haha depending on how i want them to fit). my favorite jacket ever was vintage on ebay ($8).  i love it, loveeeeeee it.

ae bow bag:

teal bag

shorts

$8 vintage ski jacket

My favorite jacket. Vintage ski jacket- $8 on eBay. Best eBay purchase of my life.

havaianas flip-flops.  while they are not cheap in the realm of flip-flops, they are cheap for shoes in general.  i have about 15 pairs and wear them all the time.

also, my canvas flats from old navy, which were $9 and people keep asking if they are marc jacobs...?

-My Hollister denim skirts. They were really cheap, and I get so much use out of them

-A brown shoulder bag with gold grommet-looking studs that I got at Platos Closet for like, $6. It's perfect because I would have spent a lot more on it

-White bermuda shorts that I got in the beginning of the summer from Charlotte Russe. Awesome. Great summer trend for me...especially because they were so cheap

-Havianas flip flops. I can't count how many times i've worn these

I do pretty good with shoes.  I wear these brown leather Eastland shoes I got for $55 about three years ago and wear them nearly every day.  They still look new since I take good care of them with leather conditioner.   I also have these Montego Bay brown leather slides I got on clearance for $5 at Payless about three years ago too.  I wear these EVERYDAY (use as house slippers) and sometimes wear out when it's warm weather.  They still look great, very good craftsmanship!

Also I get a lot of use out of my velour suits I wear usually every evening.  They are getting worn out!

My sterling silver and cubic zirconia stud earrings wear every day if I'm not wearing something special.  I'm sure they were under $10, don't remember when I got them.

Goody brand pony tail holders.  I know you get a package of like 10 and they all get lost somewhere, but I have managed to hold on to 3 for quite some time!  More careful where I put them since they are the last 3!

My Kenneth Cole-replica Target flip flops.  I have them in black and white (had them in bronze, which was my favorite, until they broke last week from waaay too much wear) and wear them all the time.  I never even liked flip flops before I found these ones.  I originally bought them from Kenneth Cole, and then Target came out with them, and Target's are just as good and less than half the price!

ON ribbed tanks- I wear them to death during the summer.

Target ballet flats- I have three different pairs. I really love them because they are so comfortable.

ON silver ethnic sandals- A couple of years ago I found these sandals in clearance for about $3 at my local ON. I bought 3 pairs of them because they were so cute and cheap. I have worn them consistently every summer. They look good with almost everything.

  • J. Crew beaters. They're $12, fit really nicely and come in gret colors that don't fade. I also like to get them on sale when they're like $5.99.

  • IM for Traget trap satchel. It was my everyday bag for so long...it's still my interview bag. It was 16.99 and at this point...CPW is literally pennies.

  • Havaianas flips and before then Old Navy flips. I wore the ON ones to death until I started buying Havaianas earlier this year.

  • Target ballet flats...they're my commuting shoes and they're holding up really well for $12.99.

  • H&M button downs. My red one is a trusty standby for interviews or when I need to look profession. My newer black one is probably going to be worn to death. Both only cost $16 to begin with and are wearing well so far. Plus they are the kindest about not having gaps at the chest.

  • Target crinkle camis for $7.99. I layered that ivory one underneath anything and everything. The lace has ripped a bit, but I must have worn it at least 50 times.

  • My rainboots which were $28 from Urban. I wore them everyday for at least three straight months of rain. Looks like it could be another rainy season in Los Angeles, but these were so worth it I almost wished I'd spent more to get nicer ones . But the Urban ones are hanging in there strong.
