I just had the most vicious woman on the phone! She called and asked to speak to someone in a position that doesn't exist in this company, so I asked her what she was calling about in an effort to find out what she needed. She repeated the exact thing that she said before and I asked her again what she was calling about. The she started berating me and telling me how stupid I am. She actually said, 'You're such a stupid girl. You have no knowledge!" And I said to her that I was just trying to help her and find out what person to transfer her to and she kept telling me how stupid I was, demanding my name and saying that I'm just dumb and she was going to 'get me.' So I hung up on her. Stupid bitch.
there is a chance it was a telemarketer/survey taker of some type. They usually don't know names or pronounce the name really wrong, or they ask to speak to a person in some vague position. Since they make calls like this all day, they don't care if they are rude to the gatekeeper (you).
I used to work as an admin at a small company and I had to deal with these kinds of calls all the time. They don't like to be asked questions about the intention of call because if they tell, they will usually get rejected.

Yeah, I get rude callers almost everyday, but this woman takes the cake! On the flip side, I had the nicest woman on the phone the other day, who even though she was frustrated (not with me, but with having a hard time getting thru, staying on hold, etc) and she made my day! The world needs more people like her!
Hehe...now my co-worker and I are having a good chuckle over this ignorant woman.
Wow, what a horrible woman. It sounds like you just happened to cross her path at the wrong time. Laugh it off and just remember that karma will come back to her.
someone just yelled at me, too. like literally raised her voice to a shout and yelled at me, because i dared to ask a question on behalf of a client, and apparently the answer was "no." that hasn't happened to me in so long--i'm actually kind of stunned.

That sucks! People are mean! I get yelled at on a daily basis, so I'm used to it.
