So I'm not very experimental when it comes to my shoe purchases (I stick to flip flops in the summer and black Converse Chuck Taylors in the fall/winter) but I want to break out of my shoe purchasing rut. I came across these boots today and thought they might be a good start (plus good for winter.) What do you think of them?

I'd get them in black leather of luggage suede.

The cost $35 and they're from a catalog called Chadwicks (chadwicks.com) that I randomly got in my college mailbox today because the person who probably had my mailbox before me never changed her address.

Okay, get ready to hear my rant about these new slouchy, flat boots. I LOVE THEM.. but I'm finding a slight problem with them (let me know if you are too). So, my first encounter with this gorgeous style of boot was at a boutique-y type shoe store where I live. They are dark brown, lambskin, flat with the perfect amount of slouch in them and they have a tie-type thing that wraps around them. Now, I think the reason they fit so perfectly was because they don't have that stand-up support like other (lesser quality) boots have. I hope everyone knows what I mean... like the ones in the picture, they have one layer of "boot-stuff" (forgive me, I don't know what to call it) that is harder, and stays up and then another layer of suede or leather that is on top that has that slouchy look to it. Hence, the boot doesn't necessarily fit your leg as well. ANYWAYS, these ones slouched on their own (the slouches weren't formed on top of the hard layer). Well, of course they are like $400, definately out of my budget. Since then, I've been to Aldo and a couple of other Aldo-like stores and found look alikes at a much better bargain but they really don't work because of this problem. SOOO.. my point? These boots have the one layer of "boot-stuff" with the other layer on top, instead of being all nice and slouchy (an expensive!) on their own. And I am like you, stuck in a shoe rut, but I just can't bring myself to buy a pair of boots that I don't like that much... especially when I have already found the PERFECT boot. Let me know what you think. Haha... wow.. that rant was building up for awhile!

I will say what every is afraid to say.  They look like an old ladies boot.  I like slouchy boots, but from the ankle down the shape and heel is just too old lady.
