Mario Badescu favorites?
Permalink Closed

I just got my samples from Mario Badescu in the mail which included the orange face soap, the almond & honey scrub, the bee pollen night cream, and the "moisture magnet" moisturizer. I have combination skin, but my T-zone gets very dry and flaky in the winter (even though it's simultaneously oily.....go figure.)

I don't think there is enough product in some of these to determine if they really make a difference for me. Do any of you have any favorite Mario Badescu products that you'll recommend, especially if you have combination skin too? Thanks!

I love MB products.  My favoties are the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, Seaweed Night Cream and Cucumber Cleansing Lotion (which is a toner).  I have oily combination skin which is also very sensitive and all these work for me.  Although, I only use the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser every few days and only at night.

I second the glycolic foaming cleanser. I absolutely love it! I use it once daily without any trouble. I also like their drying cream. You dot it on any incoming zits, but I like to apply a thin layer when my skin is looking a little icky and wear it over night. I swear it drys out any skin cells that are mucking up my complection. I also bought the Silver Powder to get rid of black heads. I don't use it as my prime black-head remover, but I do like it too.

I totally forgot about the drying cream!  It's the BEST.  An absolute lifesaver.  I also like the lip wax (SPF 15).

Is the glycolic foaming cleanser harsh in any way? Is that why you only use it every few days? On the days you're not using the MB cleanser, do you use something gentle like Cetaphil? Thanks! :)

I don't think the glycolic cleanser is harsh. I have VERY sensitive skin which tends to get red easily and I've noticed, or at least think I've noticed, that when I use any cleanser other than Cetaphil my skin looks more red than when I'm just using just Cetaphil. But, my skin is also pretty oily and when I just use Cetaphil I feel like my face doesn't get totally clean and I start to feel like I have build-up on my skin. So, I use Cetaphil (for oily skin) twice a day but about every third night I use MB glycolic cleanser instead of Cetaphil. I could probably use the MB all the time (I've never tried) because it doesn't seem to irritate my skin at all but just to be safe I've stuck to only using it every few days. I also like using it every couple of days because I notice such a difference when I do use it and I don't know if I would if I used it all the time. Overall, it's a great cleanser, you should definitely try it.

i use a couple of their products.

MB Seaweed Face Wash- like it but it has little bits of seaweed in it and i can only use it every other day (i use cetaphil on the off days) b/c even though it says it doesn't exfoliate too much- i think it does....

MB Seaweed Toner- love this!  i only use a toner once in a while when the circumstances arise and this one is great.

I love:

The enzyme cleanser -- I have sensitive, combination skin & it's great

The seaweed night cream

The oil-free moisturizer is really nice too, but it's only a teeny bit nicer than Cetaphil, which is a lot cheaper.

GD - I did your "trick" with the MB drying cream last night and put a thin layer all over my face and my skin looks great this morning, very clear and also less oily than usual.  Thanks for the tip!
