I noticed that in the fall preview section, that a couple of you watch Gilmore Girls, I thought I was the only one. Anyways I was wondering what you thought about tonight's epsoide?

My thoughts:

I think it is sad what is going on between Rory and Loreali. I don't like them being mad at each other. I think Loreali is being stubborn but then again she feels betrayed which is understandable. Also I used to like Logan, but something about him tonight i didn't like. I don't think he has rory's best intrest at heart and I don't like who she is with him. I am so happy though that Loreali and Luke are finally engaged. That was a long time waiting to happen. Also on Spoiler Fix they said they are trying to get Jess back for a few eposides and not for being the bad guy. I wonder if they are going to try to write him in as a person who is trying to persaude rory to go back to school?

Anyways that is just my two cents.

I too read that Jess would be back, but what I read was he only signed on for one episode - that should be interesting..I heard that episode will air in November...

I don't like Lorelei and Rory being mad and not talking either..it's weird.  I felt bad for Lorelei more so than Rory - I didn't like that Rory ran to her grandparents knowing how mad and hurt that would make her mom.

I haven't seen it yet (I taped it - I feel so old school) and I'll watch it tomorrow but regarding the Lorelai and Rory issue:

I think Rory sucks. No really. Lorelai has given Rory her life and shared her world with her in a way most parents can't even conceive of. She maybe didn't have all the money in the world (although her Marc Jacobs wardrobe might dispute that) but she had more respect and love than and kid.

Rory going to the grandparents is such a slap in the face to Lorelai. She's basically turning her back on everything her mother has ever stood for - essentially her entire life. She sucks and she's acting immature and selfish.

All that said, Rory is acting a bit like Lorelai (immature and selfish) and I bet Rory is tired of always trying to take care of everyone around her. Think about it, she fixes Lorelai all the time, she tried to get her grandparents back together, etc. I bet she's sick of being the responsible one. If I were her, I'd want someone to take care of ME for once (hence the stay with the grandparents). Rory is a stupid teenager and acting like one. She's been on this path ever since she slept with Dean, imo. I don't think Rory is very mature at all, although she's smart. Just like every other super smart kid, emotionally and socially she's a bit inept.

Can you all tell I spent all summer thinking about GG? I'm so pathetic. Ah well, that's what stories are for right?

I think Lorelai is beng a big baby about the whole situation and it really bugs me. Yeah, I think Rory's being an idiot nut Lorelai really didn't give her much chance but to go to her grandparents- she made it clear that staying home was not an option. And while dropping out of Yale is dumb, Rory's whole life has been so screwed up since the Dean thing that she's probably doing a good thing in going back and letting someone else have a little control over her again. She needs time to regroup and get her act together. And we all know she'll be back in school by the end of the season (she's Rory, come on!)- maybe she'll transfer to Harvard or something like she always wanted to.

I wasn't crazy about the episode- it was kind of boring and predicatble. Even their usual witty banter and jokes seemed to be kind of forced. I hope this isn't indicative of how the season is going to be... I do have to say though, that Kirk selling the rings was hysterical!

I actually think that Logan does have Rory's best interest at heart, I think he wants her to go back to school and is attracted to the fact that she is driven, etc.  I predict that he will break up with her in an effort to get her to go back to school, cause I think last night (at the bar) he realized that he is what is holding her back.  I could be way off base though...  I do really like them together though.

I agree w/you that Logan has Rory's best interest at heart.  Was it just me or did he almost seem kinda bummed out when they were sitting at the bar and he was telling her he predicts she'll be back in school in no time?  When she kept telling him he was wrong, he actually looked upset about it.  I think FP is right - I think he likes the fact that she's so driven and smart.  But, that being said, I don't really care all that much for the two of them together.  I liked her better w/Dean or Jess just because I found those storylines more interesting.  I have read that Logan will be around all season though.

I agree, I felt like they were trying to hard and the acting was forced.  Although the Zima thing made me chuckle.

Edited to add this from TVGuide, my exact words while watching....

Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her! I've waited three long months for this moment, and now I'm shouting at my TV. Yeah, I know, Luke can't hear me (but my poor neighbors probably can!). I'm totally justified, though. Why didn't he grab Lorelai the second he accepted her proposal? Why wait for the Zima (he's right, it's totally chick beer!), the pretty lame "Here's to us!" toast (witty Lorelai couldn't do better than that?) and the gazebo in the middle of town? (OK, that part was pretty romantic.)

I actually feel the most sorry for the grandparents. They are not happy with Rory either, but they chose to take her in when Loreali wouldn't. Loreali shouldn't punish them for that. When she walked into their bedroom last night, they said that they all wanted the same thing for Rory, but Loreali just huffs off again. I think it was really disrespectful. I felt bad for Richard flipping out when he heard the court verdict. He was more concerned than Rory. He tried to get her a good lawyer. I don't know, I always have had a soft spot for Richard and Emily. They are truly well meaning people, even if their upper crust judgement is clouded at times.

I had a friend tape last nights episode while I was in class but I anxiously watched it as soon as I could.

Proposal: Yay! It's about time, although I do admit, it was kinda weird there wasn't more excitement.

Rory/Loreali: Weird. What gives? It looks like (based on previews) that it will get worse before it gets better.

Rory and Richard/Emily: Emily is so funny. "Richard, you can't kill him here, we're in a courthouse" (sounds like my mom) But it's too strange for Rory to be depending on them all of a sudden.

I'm so looking forward to what this season will bring!

I was disappointed with this episode. A lot of scenes seemed really awkward and goofy (goofier than usual) to me.

I'm so fed up with Rory. My sister always says that when nerds suddenly think they're cool (usually because they start dating someone who is popular and not as straight-laced) they become horribly unbearable and I really feel that way about Rory. I liked her so much better when she was a quiet awkward bookworm. She's still pretty awkward but she definitely seems to think she's cool, hanging out with Logan and all his rich and wild friends. And I'm soo glad she got that stiff punishment because she has been acting like a rich spoiled brat lately.

I only think Lorelai is being stubborn and babyish because she misses Rory and would obviously prefer for her to come home but I don't think that she should give in and try to get Rory back. She was right to yell at Rory for wanting to drop out and for telling her that she wouldn't be able to live at home if she did. Rory was being a baby and a snot (remember how she took Logan's call after Lorelai bailed her out even though Lorelai specifically told her not to pick up the phone?) and I think Lorelai was fed up and was also threatening her just to try to get Rory to come to her senses. There's no way that Lorelai wouldn't have let Rory come home if Rory did have a total nervous breakdown and dropped out and came crying to her mom the way she went crying to her grandparents.

I don't know what to think about Logan. He did seem upset when Rory announced that she was just going to slack off but I don't know if it's because he really cares about her and is worried that she's falling apart or if it's because he wants to date a super successful and respectable girl and not someone who is taking time off because she can't handle school and who now has a criminal record and 300 hours of community service to deal with.

Wow, I think about this show waaay too much.
