petit bateau sizing? plain black tees?

i'm hunting for a plain black crewneck l/s tee shirt.  it has proven to be a lot more difficult than i had anticipated!  i want good quality cotton and a nice slim fit.  something i could dress up or down, you know?  (i'm picturing a black fitted tee, bold jewelry, big dark sunglasses...so parisian chic!) 


anyway, i think i might order a petit bateau tee.  i'm a little confused about their sizing though.  they are known for their children's clothes, but they do have a small selection of women's tees, etc.  i'm trying to decide between a small and a medium.  i almost always wear a 4 in tops/small in tees.  but if petit bateau uses european sizing, maybe i'm more like a medium?  does anybody have any PB tees?  or does anyone have any other suggestions for a quality tee shirt?  thanks!!

I have a few and they don't hold their color well, and the necks are smaller than other tees. I wasn't happy. Check out this website:

I have two PB tees and I think they run small.  I don't know the exact size I have but I ordered them and when I received them they were smaller than I expected.  I kept them and wear them under things but they're a little too small to wear alone.  Just a suggestion, I LOVE James Perse tees.  Here's one from Nordstrom...it's $39.00 but I really think JP tees are well worth the price.  JP tees are sized 1-4, 1 being the smallest.  I usually wear a S-M top and I have a few JP tees that are size 2 and a few that are size 3.  If you want a very fitted tee I would go with the 2 and if you want it a little loose the 3.  HTH.
