Does anyone know what brand of shoes run small. I went shopping this weekend for a pair of black pumps, but Everything was to big. It was so frustrating. I know my feet aren't shrinking, so are they making shoes bigger?

Have you tried shopping at Nordstrom? I think they guarantee to have a large number of shoes in small sizes in stock and if not, they'll be happy ot order it for you.

I always feel like Kenneth Cole (not Reaction, but the higher end line) runs tiny, I'm a consistent 1/2 size to whole size larger in those shoes than in anyone else's. Stuart Weitzman makes shoes in smaller sizes too.

While I can't help you find smaller shoes, I can agree that shoes may be running bigger(or some are). I recently got a pair of shoes in a size 8 when I have always been at least an 8 1/2 and most often a 9. The nine looked floppy on my foot. Could there actually be vanity sizing in shoes?? I mean..it didn't make me feel better(or thinner) to go down a size in footwear. Truthfully it made me a bit suspicious.....

Ditto on the Steve Maddens.  Another brand that's smaller for me is Nine West.

I found that the Materia Prima line runs excruciatingly small- I bought a size 40 in these:

wharf slide

and it fit like an 8.5.  I am usually a 9-10.

I also find that, in general, european sizes are smaller.  They say that a 40= 10 sometimes, but that is NOT true,  NOPE, not at all.  I would say a 40 is more like a 9.5, and sometimes, I've had to get a 40.5 even, and I'm not a 10.5.  I wear a 9 is over half of my shoes, and that little foot measurer thing says I'm a 9, but i often get a 9.5 for extra space/width, or a 10 if something runs small or is really pointy (my mj silver flats, for example, run small and are pointy, so i needed the 10).  So if you can find a shoe in a 35.5 or a 36, I think it should fit!

Maybe I have weird feet, but I usually find that I wear a solid size 36 in European sizes and I am a 6 (sometimes 6 1/2) in American sizes.  I would think if you are a 5 or 5 1/2 then you would need a 35.  I find that places like DSW that do the size conversion for you (put the size sticker on the box) translate 36 into a 5/ 37 into a 6 etc which makes it seem like all the shoes are too big.  Make sure if you are trying on shoes that they have done the conversion correctly. Don't know if that helps, but I do find that having a small foot means I can always scoop up the 36s on sale!!

Thanks for all your suggestions.

On the nine west and Steve Madden front, that is so weird that they tend to run small b/c those are the shoes i have the most problems. I bought a size 5 in NW a couple of months ago and they are like a 1/2 size to big. Where I have NW shoes from a couple of years ago that are size 5 1/2 and 6

We seem to have similar problems.  I started getting handmade shoes from George's Shoes in Los Angeles (Burbank).  Yeah, they're technically dance shoes, but at least they fit!  And they typically run from $100 to $150 (for 1" platforms with 3.5" heels).

In regular shoes I have been wearing size 5 for the last few months, but even that doesn't fit correctly, the shoebed is a bit small while the top part is always on the large side.  When I went to George, he told me that I was a perfect 6-Narrow.   Even Nordstrom & Zappos doesn't carry these.  However, I have found a few brands that run more to my size: Softspots, Propet, Sesto Meucci, Softwalk to name a few.

Hope this helps,

my sister wears a size 4 or 4 1/2.  she usually shops at nordstrom's for her "adult" sized shoes--linea paolo and BCBGirls are her best bets.  kenneth cole reaction also sometimes fits her.  it helps her to just ask the salesperson to pull whatever shoes they have in that size range for the type of shoe she's looking for (black pumps, black slingbacks, etc.) hth!
