omg - weird!  my shins have been on fire lately too, however, I don't know that it's due to walking in my flip flops.  I have been doing that every day for the past 3 years and only recently have my shins been burning.  I don't get it.  I thought it was possibly from wearing heels too much - anyone know?

do you mostly wear heels? Sometimes I find when I wear flats my legs hurt because they are actually used to heels!!

I know I mostly wear heels...flip flops on weekends sometimes and only to/from work.  You really think that could be it?

Sorry to hijack the thread monica!

Maybe it's shin splints?  I've had that before and it hurts like a b*tch!  Here's an article from WebMD about shin splints that may help, if that's the problem.

In my (not at all professional) opinion, it could be from lack of foot support from your flip flops.  Flip flops don't offer much in the way of support for your feet or the rest of your body, and maybe if you're used to wearing heels, the slight change in your posture and the way you walk is aggravating your shins.

HTH!

I have been wearing flip-flops for pretty much everyday for 3 years and I never have a problem. The only problem is when I wear some sort of heel. I calfs start hurting.

I heard this today for aching shins (like shin splints).  Take a vinegar and water mixture and rub it on your shins.  Then take a hot wash cloth and put vinegar on it and let it rest on your shins.  Supposedly you will notice a difference the next day.

i have this problem a lot (though it didn't start until after i started running). anyway most flip-flops are really bad for your feet b/c they don't offer any support. if you do a lot of walking you should get a sturdier pair of shoes or pick up some reefs which offer a lot more support.

i wear heels usually every day -- but i thought i was doing my feet some good by walking in flip flops. this is interesting. i guess i'll just stick to walking in heels to work.

thanks for the advice, ladies.

I don't think walking to work in heels is a good option either - that can really screw up your feet.  Maybe walk in some more comfortable/supportive shoes...
