I've read several threads about knock-off/ designer inspired bags before here on the forum, but I'm wondering what you guys think of carrying an inspired bag as a sort of test run...
I'm considering buying the Target version of the Balenciaga because I am beginning to save up for a really big bag purchase and it happens to be one of the bags I'm considering.
So do you think that carrying the Target version will give me a feel for whether I really want to spend the money on this bag or not? (Although this bag is very on-trend right now, by the time I save up the money via summer work and paltry on-campus jobs the trend will be long gone. I also have a couple of other bags in mind.)
in theory, i think its a great idea, you can see how it works with your outfits, how you would wear it, how your stuff fits into it, etc. In reality, it might not "feel" the same as if you had an authentic Balenciaga bag in your hand. I do not care when other people wear inspired-by bags, but I know that I personally would rather just have a different bag then a knock-off. It may be worth it though if you want to see if this is a bag you'd want to invest in for forever.
Personally, I would NEVER carry a knock-off.. but I dont look down on those who do.
I think this bag is VERY trendy and may not be popular for too much longer. I would keep saving for an investment bag.. but start looking for something more classic.
I think if you love that bag & can't afford it get the knock off - it's really cute. I don't really think it will give you the feeling of having the real bag though - I don't pay a lot for my bags, but (ladies with real / expensive bags, correct me if i'm wrong) part of the "neat" factor of having a real bag would be the quality / softness of the leather, etc that you surely won't get with a knock off. I have said it before though, I have several bags that are knock off that I didn't even know were a knock off until I came to this site - I had just bought them because I thought they were cute. So unless you are buying a bag for the quality, I don't think it matters if it's a knock off - JMO though.
And if I were saving for an investment bag, i'd definately look for a classic bag, not something trendy like this one.

I have no problem with knock-offs that are inspired by the original design. Knock-offs that are meant to be exact replicas, like logo imitators, look stupid.

maybe think about getting a knockoff but from somewhere like ioffer. the bags are usually made of real leather and are less than $100 with shipping. that way you can test drive it and still have a nice quality bag.

Agreed. Technically, everything is a knock-off, or at least 'inspired by,' unless you're buying extremely high-end designer, which is out of most people's price ranges anyway.
