letter of resignation...
Permalink Closed

does anyone have one that they could email me or post?  i've been offered a new job and would like to leave the other stressful, underpaid, annoying boss job i have now behind.  my last job that i left, i just talked to the boss; so i have never written one.

The only time I had to do one I googled for an example and then just cut and pasted it into word and customized it.  It just needs to be short and sweet and thanking them for the opportunity to work for them for all these years or months or whatever and how you learned so much.

ooooh, quitting annoying jobs is about as much fun as you can have at work.  here's what i said when i resigned from the job i hated:

Dear (name of my boss):

This letter serves as notice of my resignation from [name of company].  My last day of work will be Thursday, May 12, 2005.

I feel fortunate to have been associated with [company name] for the last three years. My experience and training have been invaluable, and I appreciate having had the opportunity to work with so many talented people.

I would like to thank you for having me as part of your team and I wish both you and [company name success in the future.

Sincerely,

valenciana

Cheesy?  Maybe.  But polite, yes.  No need to burn bridges, even if you think you won't need them, you never know.  Oh, and I cc'ed it to the two personnel people so they could get started on their paperwork.

what i really want to say is:

To the most irritating person who has ever lived:

This letter serves as notice of my resignation from cheapskate & cheaperskate.  My last day of work will be um, wait, i'm already gone.

I feel exhausted to have been associated with you jacka$$es for the last miserable year. My experience and training have been invaluable, since i had none and had to figue everything out on my own, and I appreciate having had the opportunity to work with so many  selfish, rude, smelly, and otherwise disgusting people.

I would like to thank you for having me as part of your team of untrainable idiots and I wish both you and your business make it another year without crashing and burning.

Fu%# off,

tara t

so sorry to use the f word.

tara t.  I've felt the same way about other jobs.  valenciana's letter is great though, and I ended up writing a similar one to end my last job.
