I need help! I am running out of room for all of my shoes and I have limited closet space. Currently I have a 2 Tier shoe rack, which doesn't hold all that much. The rest are on the floor of my closet. What is the best type of shoe storage system? I'm looking for something that will hold as much as possible w/out being too huge for my closet. Also, I can't use the over the door racks. Please post any ideas you have or how you store your shoes. Thanks girls!
well my shoe collection sounds like yours, but worse. i have the tiered racks also. 4 of them, but shoes fall off and are on the floor and everywhere. so on that note, i have a dream of someday organizing my closet and putting all of my shoes into these containers.

do you think that would look organized? this may be a good route for me to go...

i would think so... do you have a container store near you? i would go and just stack a few on top of each other to see if you like how it looks.
what i like about the clear containers is that you can see the shoes. currently 1/2 of my shoes are in original boxes and the other 1/2 are on the floor. sometimes i forget about some of the shoes in the boxes because i can't see them...
oh and if you really wanted to be anal about it- you could get polaroids of the shoes to stick on the outside... another one of my dreams!!

yes, i do have a container store near me - i think I will go try it out and see. thanks tara t and bex.
if anyone knows of another way, i'm still open to suggestion.
I wonder if those clear plastic boxes have lids that open on the top, or if they have little drawers that slide out from the ends to access your shoes (I'm thinking it's the former....)
It might be annoying if you want a shoe that's near the bottom and you'd have to pull the box out from under all the others, especially if you have a lot of shoes. Just a thought.
I'm not sure how much they are at the Container Store - but my Walmart has clear plastic shoe boxes that they just "rolled back" to $0.77 each - I just bought 10 more - I have a serious shoe issue. my mother-in-law said that she thinks because the number keeps growing that I may have become a collector....LOL
And they do have lids that open from the top, but I try to keep my shoes in their original boxes so that presents the same issue - just lately I've been buying a lot from Ross / TJ Maxx / Nordstrom Rack & they don't come with boxes, so.....Walmart it is.

That's exactly what I was thinking, and actually, in the pic Tara posted, it looks like they have lids on the top, which means I'd have to be pulling them out. I can't imagine that being very efficient
These are pricey- $5.99 each, but i have the bigger ones and like them. You could probably fit two or more pairs of shoes in here if they are smaller. Don't remember the exact size of the box though:
Our Clear Shoe Drawers provide visible accessibility for closet organization. Sized for shoes, the drawers can also accommodate other items as well - scarves, socks, lingerie, and accessories. Our Men's and Athletic Shoe Drawer is larger to accommodate men's shoes as well as women's athletic footwear and shoes with bulky heels or platform soles. Specially designed to stack securely, they serve as a great storage solution for crafts, office supplies, toys and toiletries.
Regular Shoe Drawer Clear 7" x 12" x 4" h $6.99 ea Men's & Athletic Shoe Drawer Clear 8" x 14" x 5-1/4" h $9.99 ea
I like that bottom thing you posted - I don't have anything like that but man I wish i did. I really love those shoe drawers, I just can't spend $7 for each pair of my shoes - that would be like $500!!!!! And that would buy some sweet shoes that i'd have no where to store them... LOL
