Surviving winter in style...

cute coats, Kelly!  do you have a link for the -148F boots? those might be exactly what I need for shoveling and snowy walks this winter.  I wanted some that would basically slip on and off, and these look like they fit the bill...

How I plan to survive the winter
I am a huge baby about the cold. HUGE. Sometimes I will wear my winter coat inside when the heat is set to 70 because I still just can't get warm enough. So I have finally developed a strategy for winter-wear that should keep me a bit happier through this terrible season: I am searching for coats, boots, etc. that are much more heavy-duty than I should actually need. And it's working so far. Get this - I always thought I hated skiing. But last winter, I went skiing in a coat rated for -30F (it was maybe 15 degrees out, probably even warmer than that) and as it turns out, I had a blast! An obscenely warm coat is all I needed to turn my own personal hell into something I can't wait to do again.

So, in case any of you are babies about winter too (or uh, actually live in places with temperatures that warrant this stuff), I thought I'd share some of the warmest stuff I could find that is still cute. Well, as cute as marshmallow coats and snow boots can be!

Traci has a few favorite cold-weather accessories too. First, the heated water bowl, which keeps her water from freezing over outside. I don't remember which brand we have, but there are plenty out there.

Until last year, that's all she really had to help her out in the winter. She's a husky mix, so she could probably handle much colder temperatures than Cincinnati can throw at her. But she's getting old now, and you might also remember that last year she didn't recover from her summer buzz cut in time for winter (the vet thinks it has something to do with her diabetes). So I wanted her to have a warm bed outside just in case she ever did feel too cold.
I came home quite a few days to find her snuggled up and napping in her dogloo on the heated bed, so I think it was a good idea.

Are you "cold blooded"? What do you wear when it's bitter cold outside? If your pets go outside, do they have anything special in the winter?
