How would I wear this?
Permalink Closed

I had thought of putting together this outfit (the ss velvet blazer, tiered silk skirt, and boots), but I am not sure when the appropriate time to wear it would be.  Velvet seems to be for cold weather, but then there is the short sleeved issue.  Would it look weird to layer a long sleeved top under the velvet blazer?  Please help.

First things first..that blazer is gorgeous!  Love the color and cut!

I for one would not wear anything long-sleeved under that...but maybe that's just me.  I think it would detract from the style.  Honestly, I think it should be fine come fall to wear as is...with a thicker shell underneath of course.  I mean, the only issue is the cold outside and you'll have a coat on then...so unless your in a building that is kept extremely cold, it should be ok.

just imo.. but honestly i think that's too much velvet. i wouldn't wear the jacket and the skirt together. i think each piece is so beautiful but together they may be fighting for attention.

as for the short sleeve jacket/long shirt look. i think it could work with a turtleneck or something.. but it would have to be tight.

I also think it's too much velvet, though each piece looks great. I don't think long sleeves under would work. but you could wear it under a coat to a place you knew would be warm.

I agree that I wouldn't wear it together - but both pieces are gorgeous

I don't know what to say about the short sleeve velvet jacket thing. I have a sleeveless suede dress that I love, but I never wear it because I have the same issue. I am anxious to hear what others have to say

I *think* only the blazer is velvet...isn't the skirt crushed silk?

Sorry, corrected a spelling error, and it accidentally erased my post...Anyway, if you have the September Lucky, check out page 313 - love the jacket layered over the long sleeve blouse.

Also, this is from anthro, click on view model

It's such a cute transitional jacket, and I think you will get tons of wear from it in the fall before it gets too cold.

I think a sheer blouse underneath would be beautiful, maybe paired with a menswear or cropped trouser?

As others have said- both pieces are cute but don't wear them together.

I think the velvet blazer would look cute with a long sleeve striped tee underneath.

The skirt is crushed silk.  Thanks everyone--I think I like the sheer blouse idea under the blazer and I already have one I think will work.  However, I see what you mean on the skirt.  Even though it is not velvet, it has that look to it.  I will be sure to look in Lucky.
