i bought some salt works jeans today at anthro for $79.95 (marked down from $143!). i had never tried this brand before- they're cute! i tried on a 28 and a 29 and ended up getting the 28. the 29s fit comfortably, but i was afraid that they would stretch and get too big. i fit into the 28s, but they're definitely tight/not comfy right now. i wore them for a little while when i got home and they started to stretch a little bit. i know that a lot of you girls have salt works jeans- what have your experiences been like with this brand? do they stretch like other jeans? should i keep the 28 or go back tomorrow and get the 29? thanks!!
eta: the style is "magnolia" and they are 98% cotton, 2% PU
I don't have the Magnolias, but I have the Orchard St. and mine don't stretch out all that much - maybe just a little bit. My other brands like COH and James stretch way more. I'd be the size that feels most comfortable. If it helps at all, I normally wear a 27 and I bought a 28 in Salt Works.

thanks, sc33! hmmmm, maybe i should exchange them? anybody else have advice?
Exactly how big were the 29's on you? If they seem a little loose, I wouldn't get them. But if they seemed just right, that's what I would get.
the 29s fit very comfortably, maybe even a little roomy. i didn't get them because i was afraid of the "saggy butt" syndrome- i hate it when jeans stretch out and fall down your butt! when i worked at a boutique, we always told people to buy the smallest size that they could still button up since jeans tend to stretch. i'm not sure about these though- they definitely started to stretch when i wore them at home for a little while, but i need them to stretch a little more to be able to wear them... and what if they never stretch more? i can't decide what to do!
I have the Avenue A's in a 27 and I'm a 27/28 in Sevens and COH. Compared to Sevens and COH, my Saltworks jeans don't stretch as much in the waist that I have to go down a size. hth!
I think if I were you I'd keep the size you have. If you buy the bigger size and they are already roomy, they will stretch a little and you'll have the saggy butt syndrome. If yours are already stretching a little, I think you'll be fine. I think they'll stretch out a little more. All I was trying to tell you was that I did have to size up in Salt Works and that they do stretch but not as much as other brands like COH and James. I hope I'm helping!

yes, you are definitely helping shopchicago! i'm just confused because i feel like i should be a 28.5 in these! wouldn't it be nice if they made half sizes in jeans like they do in shoes? it's so hard to tell with jeans sometimes because each pair can be different, you know? the sizing isn't always consistent. some brands are notorious for running big or small, but since i've never even tried on salt works before, i'm doubting myself. but thanks for your help, i do appreciate it!
I got my normal size (28) in the Avenue A flares and they def. stretched out. My sister has them now. I say wear them more before you decide, and take into account if you always stay at your current weight or if you usually weigh a couple pounds more or less.
I have the Salt Work Magnolias and they have retained their shape very well. I have been using a drycleaner though because they are still pretty new. I have some 7s and AG's that are older and lose shape. If they feel small, I don't dry them when I wash them. If they feel big, I dry them. I wear the same size in all brands.
Off topic, but when I bought the Salt Work Magnolias, I couldn't find them anywhere online. I had wanted to post them in weekend shopping. Are they exclusive to Anthropologie? That's where I bought them, too, and I have never seen them anywhere else before that or since.
I have Avenue As and they stretched a little, though not a lot. I think you should keep the ones you have .... I don't think you need a lot of stretch, after all you're able to pull them on
