Does Nordstrom really take almost anything back?
Permalink Closed

I feel sort of weird about this but I've heard so many crazy things about Nordstrom's lenient return policy that I thought I'd ask. I have a Laundry dress that I bought last year and never wound up wearing. It still has the tags but I don't have the receipt anymore. Is there any chance that they would take it back and if so, would they give me the money back or would they give me store credit? I just figured if they do really take back almost anything I would give it a shot, otherwise I'll list it on ebay.

i have heard they do.
i have only returned one dress--they gave me cash but i think they still carried the item.

i have heard stories about people returning tires and crazy things like that.

I am sure they will take it back.

If it still has the tags, does it still have the barcode sticker they put on it?  That has all the information they need to process the return.

I have returned stuff that was MONTHS old, and because they sat in my closet, I knew I wouldn't wear them, so I just returned them, and they were fine with it.

The original Nordstrom tag is on it and it does have a barcode. I suppose I might was well give it a try. There isn't a Nordstrom in NYC but it did cost $270 so it's worth a trip out to Jersey or something to see if they'll take it back.

I'm pretty sure if it still has the barcode, they will take it back.  I have returned stuff without my receipt, just using the barcode thing.

Maybe you could call just to make 100% sure before you make a long trek?

I returned a blazer there last November that I had bought during their Anniversary sale (in July). I did have the tags with the barcode they took it back and gave me the full refund, no problems.

I also returned a pair of uber-cute Kate Spade shoes that I'd gotten during the Half-Yearly sale because they gave my feet blisters the size of Texas. Since they looked well worn, they didn't give me full price back, but they did give me $120 (out of $150) so that was defintely worthwhile.

I really don't know, but I just thought i'd add this...if they give you store credit & you can't find a thing that you want, could you get me this sweater? I sure would appreciate it. LOL

I don't know how far NJ is from you, but I was just thinking that although it sounds like a good idea to call, I would think they are more likely to say no over the phone but still may take it back if you were there...JMO though

This amazes me. I wouldn't have even tried to take them back after I wore them, that's so good to know.

I've heard that they'll return stuff from lines that they don't even carry.  That doesn't even make sense to me, but I've known people that have returned things to Nordstrom that they didn't buy there.  (Just for the record, I have a big problem w/ this because it means eventually Nordie's would have to change their policy, which sucks for the rest of us.)

But yes, their return policy is great, and if you have the tags on the dress and you've never worn it, you shouldn't have a problem at all.

call to be sure, but i bet they will take it back- no problem.

i once had a pair of 7 dojo jeans from there that the SA swore up and down i should go a size smaller b/c they would stretch out a lot.  well, i had them hemmed and wore them about 10 times before i gave up that they would "stretch out"... they never did, so i returned them, hemmed and worn, and got my money back- all of it.  (i did manage to find the receipt though)

My bf's sister is in management at Nordie's and I just asked her.  She said as long as the sticker is still attached and you have the tags (they don't even have to be attached) they will return it.
