GREAT shaving gel -- attn. ShopChicago and others!
Permalink Closed

***begin vent*** I have always had a horrible experience shaving my sensitive armpits -- razor burn no matter what, and believe me, I've tried everything -- different razors, creams, etc (even tried Nair and other depilatories -- these things do not work on me! Do I have the world's most resistant hair or something??) The razor burn made it so that I could only shave my armpits every 2 days (yes, it sucks.) Also tried waxing but I don't like how you have to wait for the hair to grow in for like a month before going back! ***end vent***

Anyway, I have been using Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel for about a week now and it is REALLY working wonders for me. No more bumps and I can shave more often without having painful armpits.

ShopChicago, I remember you posted before about having this razor burn problem. Don't know if you have tried this kind, but it's making such a difference for me!

HTH someone!

OMG thank you so much for remembering and thinking of me Christine!  I will definitely buy that and try it - I need all the help I can get for my underarms and bikini line when shaving.  How often does this let you shave now?

I've been shaving every other day with it (don't want to push my luck, at least not this soon!) and have been getting these great results. Before finding this gel, it was every 2 (or 3!) days and even then, I would get painful red bumps. Until I get laser hair removal one day, I think I have found the best solution (and it's only $5!)

Oh, and I use the Schick Silk Effects Plus razor that's been out forever. It's the wide lilac-colored, double-blade one. I've tried every other razor out there but found that the 3 and 4-blade ones only exacerbated my problem.

I hope this stuff works as well for you -- keep me posted!

Thanks Christine..I'm very hopeful this will work as well for me as it does for you!  Thanks for the razor suggestion - I acutally used to use the one you use and found it made my problem worse..the 3 or 4 blades work better for me and I've actually had the best luck w/the Venus Vibrance.  Thanks again for thinking of me

I used to have problems with this too.  I would have razor burn ALL the time!  I started using Aveeno several years ago, and now I can shave them every day.  Also I found my deodorant would irritate my armpits, so now I exclusively use the dove Anti-perspirant for sensitive skin (unscented).  Also the Venus razor blades that come in the purple package.  I might have to try the vibrance. . .

So I second your reccomendation and bow to the Aveeno chemists.

I get so frustrated sometimes I'm tempted to try an epilator, but I am chicken.

Hmm, maybe I will try the Vibrance razor, I actually haven't tried that one yet (I figured it would be pretty much the same thing as the regular Venus razor, but it's worth a shot, esp if it's working for you, ShopChicago!)

ejc423 -- I am going to try that Dove antiperspirant for sensitive skin! Thanks!!

Oh, I should have mentioned that the other Venus razors all gave me razor burn too, but when I switched to the Vibrance, it's been so much better.  And I too use the Dove anitperspirant for senstive skin - the combo is working great for me.  I'm going to buy the Aveeno and I should have no razor burn ever!!
