HELP me and my black sweater
Permalink Closed

uuuuh! i just noticed that i splashed a bit of bleach on the sleeve of my very NEW black wrap sweater (actually it's made of t-shirt material) and now i have lovely (NOT) pink splotches where the bleach went to work.

urrrrgh!

i was thinking that i could try to use black dye to try and save it but i've never ever tried dying anything. has anyone done it or have a recommendation on which dye to use? or any other suggestions would be fantastic... or any reassurance that my sweater can be saved.

thanks.

Since it's black and it sounds like cotton right, I think you have a good chance of recovering it. Try Rit dye, you can get it at any fabric store...just be sure to wash it on it's own a few times before wearing or washing with any other clothing.

Oh that's so frustrating. I've had this happen to me a few times and if the spots are tiny I've actually just used a black fabric/permanent marker on them and it hasn't been noticeable. If the bleached spots are bigger though you are probably better off trying to dye it.

This might sound weird, but I've used a Sharpie with good results before. Best if the bleach spot is small.

thanks, girls. i hadn't thought of using a permanant marker, but that's what i'm going to try first. it seems a lot less messy than dye for sure.
