I ran out of outfit ideas today, and threw this on:
blue on blue flowered tank black wrap cardigan thing 'milk chocolate' brown pants black boots
It occured to me later that I shouldn't have worn the black and brown together.... I figure that it has to be very intentional-looking to work. What do you think?
Depends on you I guess. In one of the recent articles here, it mentioned black and brown, which even after the article, I'm still not sure I like it. So I don't know, but the day is already over with, and probably (HOPEFULLY!) no one noticed.
I am trying to picture it but I can't!! Many times I have seen in magazines or even celebs wearing black and brown, so dont worry! I'm sure you looked cute but like berryahou said the day is over with! I think everyone commits a fashion crime at least one day out of their whole lives!!!
Oh splash! Don't let the rules consume you! *hugs*
In my mind, this outfit doesn't look that bad at all. If the pants were milk chocolate, it was obvious that you weren't trying to match the black and brown and IMO that's where black and brown together is bad.
I think black and brown look good together, as long as you choose the right shade of brown.
It actually sounds like a pretty cute outfit to me. It's unexpected and unique. Don't worry, I'm sure you looked fine. And since the shade of brown sounds like it's a lighter shade, there was enough difference between the black and brown for it to look good.
Oh dear..... Well, let's assume this was cute... and I'll never wear it again..

Thanks! Cute outfits! I've always liked the look of all black and brown, because when combined properly, the look is so rich. I'll have to use your outfits as guidelines to figure it out for my own closet.
