Ahhhh..... I broke down in Santa Fe this weekend and.. err.. got myself a little birthday gift. Fabulous, gorgeous, awesome handcrafted cowboy boots - this company only makes like 500 pr. a year. Actually, I exercised remarkable restraint, as this is one of the less $$ models. I think the cost-per-wear should be good, as it's somewhat of a lifetime investment (in Santa Fe, they never go out of style) and they are SO freaking comfortable, which surprised me.
Anyway, they come just about halfway up my calf, maybe slgihtly shorter. Sicne I have short and slim legs, I can pull off a short boot pretty well. I actually look weird in knee-length ones because my calves are short.
SO - dress me! I know that one has to be careful not to look costumey, so I plan to pair these with some more urban or simple pieces. I'd love to see suggestions for late summer/fall if you girls are game.
well, for fall, I can see them with one of those cute sundresses you got with a chunky cardigan... I also see them with cropped corduroy pants, casual skirt and sweater, jeans (of course)...

I LOVE those boots, dc - very NICE! I myself would NOT know what to wear with them, but I'm sure I (and you) could come up with something FANTASTIC. I'd let all the attention be on the boots.....WOW!

atlgirl - No, mine are still in the three-figures! LOL... They were $785, I don't mind saying. I felt like my choos were more, as were half of my handbags, so while I had a momentary freakout, I have now talked myself into a state of peace.

Whew - thanks for not being offended by my asking. I am wanting a second pair of cowboy boots myself - I inherited my husband's black Tony Lama's a few years back (they're really too narrow for his feet, and this is one instance where wearing a size 10 shoe comes in handy - they fit me) but they're all black, and I want something jazzier. But...probably not in that price range.
Y'know, most of the time I am happy with the idea that I have to spend less because all my available $$ goes back into my business..but occasionally, I see something that makes me want to go back to the higher-paying corporate world. Your boots are one of those things ~sigh~ Enjoy the heck out of them!
I'll be all right again in a little while. *s*

when i went to santa fe with my bf last year, i kept on joking (not really) for a pair of cowboy boots like that. he kept on saying that he would get them (he's from dallas) but i never took the initiative!!
i just wanted to say that i love yours the best! what a great choice!

love, love, love your boots. they're gorgeous and very dc. i really like dot's ideas. especially the first dress. i think it's the perfect combo of elegance (the dress) and quirk (the boots).
i saw this dress at urbn, and think it would look really cute with the boots too (and be an interesting play on patterns) this sweater would be a good way to transition it into fall
(but part of me feels like it might be a smidge too boho)
also maybe your james perse dress like this
your james perse dress & a longer slim v-neck sweater like this
