They are called milia...the same name given to the "pimples" many newborn babies have. Taking a daily multivitamin should help, as they are more readily produced when the level of one vitamin/mineral (can't remember which) is low.

Somebody told me that the only way to get rid of them is by using a heavy duty retinol eye cream and even that doesn't completely banish them but it makes the much less visible. HTH!
