How does shipping via media mail work?  I have a couple of textbooks listed on half.com and I have to ship via media mail, but I am a novice at this.  Could anyone enlighten me?  TIA!

okay, first of all it's cheap but slow. 


you can only send the book with nothing else in the packaging...  just the book and the box or the wrapping.


i have heard that sometimes they randomly open up the package to check ( but i thought that this was illegal.

oh yeah, and some of the items i have recieved via media mail have looked like they have been thru a warzone.
