Will some hotels let you look at a room BEFORE you check in? I'm trying to find a NICE, but not too cheap, hotel for our trip next month, and I really like to LOOK at a room before we check in. Does this even exist? The last hotel we stayed out, the lobby was all nice looking, then we get to the room - it was so-so, and at almost $100.00/night, you'd expect the same type of room, right? LOL I'm just wondering.

not that i am aware of... but if you are familiar with a line of hotels- then you can kinda get an idea of what you are going to get.  i stay in a lot of different chains of hotel lines for work and my favorite is probably the hilton brand hotels or marriots.  i also like westins and hyatts.  hth!

I always check the reviews at tripadvisor.com before I book a hotel.

They absolutely will let you look at a room first. I do it all the time. Other people do too, I'm sure, because the desk person never bats an eye when I ask. In fact I just did it this weekend, and they ended up showing me three different rooms so I could decide which type I liked best.

It's in their best interest to do so, and it really can't hurt to ask. I figure if they WON'T show you a room, they probably have something to hide.
