LOL Well, right now on my bedroom comp., I also have AOL (dial-up, since I live in the BOONIES!), and it's OK thus far. I get it FREE for 6 mos. trial period, after that I have to start paying for it, but they're a lil' pricey (to me). I may check out peoplepc.com, see what they're like. On the liv. rm. comp. we have SBC Yahoo (dial-up again!), and I hate it!!!! I don't even use the Internet on that computer anymore, that's how it got infected w/viruses, spyware, etc., so oh well.

I have Bellsouth.  It's not bad but nothing spectacular.

I have Comcast cable internet and I have to say that I've been pretty impressed w/it.  I've honestly had no major issues w/it at all.  I don't know if you want to switch from dial up to cable, but I'd recommend it.

Here's my warning - DO NOT get SBC Yahoo DSL or dial up!!!  I can't warn you enough - I had the most hellish experience w/them ever that I cancelled.  My parents, brother, and several friends have had horrible experiences w/SBC internet too - just a warning.

LOL Yeah, I think after talking it over w/my honey, we may just drop it completely, save that $9.95/mo. on the phone bill. I just need to see if they will send our e-bill to my Yahoo account, I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask?! LOL Our satellite cable carrier is DISH Network, and they don't have Internet service, also all the ISP people that I've talked to tell me that I live TOO FAR OUT to get high speed, so oh well, I just deal w/the dial-up.

I have SBC Yahoo DSL because its the only option here at my apartment complex and its been fine this week.  What problems did you have ShopChicago so I can be on the lookout.  Not like I have much of a choice but I still want to be able to complain and stuff.

It's a loooong story, but the short of it that I had trouble w/the inital set up of it.  I got the modem and hooked it up and went through the online registration process and then my modem wasn't get a signal from their home office for about 1 week, so I had no internet because I couldn't log on to finish my registration.  Then when the fixed my modem issues, i went to register and registration was down "due to maintenance" for 10 days, so still no internet for another 10 days.  Then after those 10 days, I was finally able to register...I got my account all set up..then I went to create an account for my BF.  Once I did that, for some reason my account magically disappered!  That was the final straw - I had spent hours on the phone w/the people at SBC and decided they knew nothing - they were so unhelpful.  I cancelled the service.  Then they had the nerve to try to charge me for 1 month worth of internet service - I never had service.  I thought the whole experience was awful as was their customer service.  I hope it goes better for you!

Oh ok.  No I have been fine.  My only complaint was that they sent the modem a week before they would turn on my internet so it was eating away at me that I had all the set up but couldn't connect yet.

I have Cox (Comcast in other areas, same company) Cable broadband, and for the most part, it's been really good.  Every once in a while there's a short outage, but usually it's very reliable.

I have comcast cable because I do a lot of downloading files for work.  I purchased an domain for myself and use that with Outlook as my e-mail.  I don't think I could ever go back to dial-up.
