how often do you replace your running shoes? do you do it according to a new schedule, or just when they start to feel old. i got fitted for my first pair of shoes a couple of months ago, and i'm happy b/c i've been totally injury free since then. but i'm not sure if i should replace them according to a certain schedule, and don't want to wait for an injury. tia.

i usually just can tell when they start feeling worn-down (it is usually about 5-6 months), but it depends how much running you are doing and how hard you are on shoes.  you'll be able to tell, i think--the ground starts feeling harder on the soles of your feet.

You should replace your running shoes every 350-500 miles.  I generally replace mine every 400 miles, which means I buy a new pair about every 3 months (I run around 4 miles/day).

i just do it when they start to feel old.  i alternate between 3 pairs so they all last a little longer than the 5-6 months that i guess i should be switching according to posts above on your mileage...
