Blubirdie- Its all from Bed Bath and Beyond. I think Farrah or Vanessa also has that same stuff.
I'm in the Heights area. Right off of Studemont/Montrose just north of allen pkwy. Any recs for food other than mexican? That's all I seem to find here.
Oo, you should def. eat at Collinas Italian Cafe. It's sooo good! I usually go to the one on W. 19th st. oh my gosh, I got soo hungry thinking about their food! I need to go like very soon!

Ahhh... I don't know too much about the Heights actually. I love that area though - it's so cute. Have you hit the Central Market in the area yet? I forget exactly where it is but I'm sure it's on citysearch. It's not too far away if I remember correctly.
A good place to eat that they don't have in Austin and I'm jealous about is Panera. Ever been there? They have them all over and I heart them dearly. I always want to go when I'm in town. It's like a sandwich/soup place but oh-so yummy. There's also a ton of great Asian food in certain parts of Houston, inside the loop, so you should check those out too. (Again citysearch can help with that.)

My FH can also recommend some good places - He said that if you need to go cheap, do Mexican. If you want to splurge, there are a couple of awesome sushi places around too! I'll ask him what his favorite places were and get back to you .

oh my gosh, our little lsu is all grown up! so cheesy i know but it seems like just yesterday we were freaking about what you should say at your interview, etc., etc. anyway, just wanted to say I am SO proud of you. You worked really hard to get where you're at and you rock!!
You will be fine! Having just moved to a new city myself, I know how frustrating it can be. I am always going to Mapquest to find out where to get somewhere. Luckily, me BF moved in a couple months later, and I had a STer to hang out (!) so I wasn't too lonely, but it was still an adjustment being in a city w/o my family, friends, and BF, whom I saw daily.
Your apartment is very cute--I wish I had the energy to put up all my decorations, but I need all new stuff anyway. I love your desk area and bathroom.
Your place looks great!! I love the shower curtain. I also love the Amish sign, and your orange and yellow towels in the kitchen. When are you having everyone over for a housewarming?
Oh, and we have bunny ears too. Sometimes my SO has to hold them over his head in the middle of the living room to get proper reception for certain channels
Blubirdie- I have been dying to try Panera for months. There is one in Destin that I didn't get to go to. It sounds so good. I might have to try it this weekend when i'm entertaning a friend. I found the Central Market you talk about but have yet to check it out. They just opened a really nice Kroger down the street and I found Whipped PB there! It made my day.
Esquiress- I don't think I'd be where I'm at today without your help! Thanks so much. I actually am feeling grown up right now. My mom came yesterday to bring me some stuff and when she left this morning I was sad but didn't cry.
Claudia - The italian restaurant sounds really great. Maybe we could do a stylethread dinner there in Sept?? Anyone up for it?
Dot- I'm doing pretty good with finding the shopping spots and side streets from my apartment to them so I don't have to go long ways by getting on the loop or 1-10 for the most part.
Sage- anytime you are in the area call me up and you can come over and watch tv with the bunny ears. I do pretty well with everything except NBC which is my favorite. I guess that's how it goes though.
JacL- Mapquest is usually my friend but my DSL doesn't start until tomorrow so I've actually been having to just get out and drive around and make guesses. I've actually found some cool places this way.
I just found 2 cute pics at MegaMarshalls yesterday so I'll post them in the weekend shopping thread tomorrow. My mom sprung for them because they were so cute and went with my colorful theme.
Its weird to sit at home alone all the time but kinda fun. I'm sure I'll be missing it though when work starts up next week.
Oh I love your bathroom and the shower curtain. I can't wait until I move out on my own so that I can get all those girly things to decorate my place. That dress in your hallway is so cute?
ShanKel - that dress is one of those french message boards. Its either target or bed bath and beyond. A friend of mine gave it to me and I saw it recently at one of those 2 places.
It looks awesome! I loved living alone -- I think you will love it too, though it is weird at first. I went to Houston in June & it's such a beautiful city!
