I am going to Virginia Beach with my friend and her family (and another friend) and we are staying at her mom's house. I want to bring something for her mom. I'm thinking that I am not obligated to spend a ton of money (correct me if I am wrong, PLEASE) because we are all financially responsible for ourselves plus I am only one of 5 people going. We (my friend, her family, another friend, and I) have to buy our own groceries and alcohol at the beginning of the week, which we will share with her mom, cook for ourselves, and all our excursions are paid for by ourselves. I am telling you this because I don't want you to think I am getting a free ride all week and then giving a cheap gift. So, would this be a good gift to bring? I know she likes desserts and the beach (that's why she moved to VA beach)?
I think the cookies are a nice idea. I would also suggest a gift basket from Harry and David or some nice beachy type candles. That is very nice of you to bring her a gift. So many people do not think to do something like that for their host or hostess.
