Need some more advice....

Sorry to keep beating this subject to death, but I'm very confused.

The company I'm temping at wants me to go perm. This would happen in late September. If I haven't found another position by then, what should I do?  I really, really need the pay increase and I also need health insurance b/c I have a pinched nerve in my back and I'm in constant pain from it.  But I don't want to take it and then leave. I would feel like a bad person.

So, should I be selfish and take the position for the money and insurance and then quit? I'm sure that companies would understand when I'm job hunting why I don't want to be a receptionist, but would it look bad for me? Help, please!!

I don't think going perm would be a bad thing even though you are planning to leave. The health insurance and pay increase would be helpful, and honestly Nylabelle, you don't owe the company a lifetime of loyalty just because you took the job. As long as you insist on giving proper notice when you find a new job every thing would be fine! That is all you owe the company you currently work for.

Thanks, sage.  I think you're right.  I really, really need to pay increase and the insurance and it's not like I have a signed contract or anything.

I totally agree with Sage. People leave jobs all the time! You really need the $ and insurance right now so I think you should go for it. I think it will really help with your situation right now and you don't have to feel as pressured to find a new job. If it takes a while or a very short time, at least you will be making better $ and be able to get your back fixed! I say go for it!

I agree wholeheartedly with Luv2Shop and Sage.  Besides, you are obviosly extremely overqualified for this position!  I don't think your employer would be very suprised if you left for a job that made use of your degree and talents.  Do what you have to do for you.

I agree with the other girls on this one too.  If you haven't found something, then I'd take the job.  If you need the pay increase and health insurance, then you have nothing to lose by taking the job.  Don't feel bad about it either.  You need to take care of yourself first, and worry about the company second (or third, whatever).

And, who knows, maybe if you go permanent, they'll give you more responsibility?  I wouldn't hold my breath on that, considering the way they've treated you so far, but they might.  I'll keep my fingers crossed for you in the meantime though that something else pops up for you.
