what was your favorite season of Felicity and why?

I have the Season 1 DVD. I think Season 4 will be my next purchase.  It's a toss up between those two seasons as to which was my favorite.  I think that Season 1 edges out Season 4 by a smidge.  There was just something so fresh and innocent about that first season.  Some of my favorite episodes were in that season--I loved the Thanksgiving episode when Noel and Felicity kissed in the bathroom (I HATED Hannah, that piano playing little home wrecker! ).  I also loved the finals episode where Megan gave Noel the 'smart powder' and he had that awful reaction!! Hilarious!  And of course, the last episode with the Ben/Noel cliffhanger.

Of course, Season 4 was great b/c it was just a true evolution of the characters. Who would have thought that Megan and Felicity would end up friends?  And we finally got our wish and she ended up with Ben, but we also saw what would have happened if she had ended up with Noel (so sad!!!).  I just love this show!

Now I'm going to have to go watch the DVD's! Maybe I'll buy one tonight (I have a Best Buy GC that's been burning a hole in my pocket since Christmas!).

describe your first kiss (where, when, etc.).

Well, when I was in kindergarten, I had a crazy crush on this guy. My friends and I used to chase him around the playground at recess. It was insane. We would run all over place. I don't know what we thought we were going to do with him if we ever caught him.  Buuuuut, our parents used to carpool and one day, I decided to throw the boy over the back seat of his mom's VW and plant one on him.  Hehe. But, I don't consider that a 'real' kiss. But it's a funny story, no?

Real kiss, was a guy I was dating when I was 14.  We were in my basement, watching 'Aladdin' and the song "A Whole New World" was playing (how appropo) and he leaned over and kissed me.

what do you think your life be like today if you had married that boy (your first kiss)?

If I had married, him life would have been miserable--he ended up in jail for drug related charges and just after he was releasesd, he died in a car accident around Thanksgiving when we were 19 or 20 years old. This was long after we had dated and I hadn't spoken to him in years, but we did go to the same high school, so it was still crazy when it happened.

do you speak any foreign languages?

I'm decent in Spanish, but I'm not fluent. If I went to a Spanish speaking country, I think it would only be a matter of days, though, until I was fluent.

happiest childhood memory?

Oh, I have so many!  I was raised by my mom and her parents and I grew up in the same house that my mom had grown up in.  My grandparents had designed and built that house (someday, when I'm rich--haha--I want to go back and buy that house).

But anyway, my best memories are of my childhood summers.  While my mom was at work, I would spend the day with my grandparents.  There weren't any other kids in the neighborhood, so my grandma became my main playmate. We would play 'restaurant' and 'store' and if it was hot outside, we would go out to my kiddie pool and she would sit by the side with her feet in the pool, while I swam around.  And then in the evenings, my grandpa would grill something up on the grill and we would eat on our sunroom.

Funny thing, the other day, my mom and I were shopping at Bath & Body Works and I picked up a scent and I was said, "Hey, this smells like those bushes in our yard when I was a kid! It smells like my childhood summers!" And my mom said, "Those were peony bushes!" I looked at the bottle and sure enough, the scent was peony.  It's amazing how powerful smell is.  With one whiff of that bottle, I was transported back to my childhood, which was by far, the happiest time of my life.  I had the best childhood and couldn't have asked for more.  I think I'll go buy some peony candles.

who is your favorite designer and why?

As far as higher-end designers, I love Matthew Williamson.  He has such a joyful whimsy about his designs that I find to be intoxicating. If I had to dress in one designer for the rest of my life, it would be him.

How old were you when you lost your virginity?

I was 16 and he was my boyfriend.

whats the last movie you saw at the theatre?

'Cinderella Man' and I hated every minute of it. I really want to see 'Skeleton Key' and I still haven't seen 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.'  I need my Johnny Depp fix!!!

whats the last movie you rented?

I don't remember what it was called, but it was stupid! It had Christian Slater and Tara Reid...oh, wait, it was "Alone in the Dark." Please, don't watch this movie!

any tattoos?

Nope, I'm ink-free. But when I was on the hunt for new roommates, I put an ad up on craigslist and some crazy guy responded and told me that he was a tatoo artist with private clients and he could 'hook me up with some ink!' Hehe..and to think he could have been my roommate. Hehe.

did you ever steal anything from a store or anywhere?

No, I've never stolen or cheated in my life (yes, I'm a goody-goody). I remember the first week of my freshman year of college, I was at Kmart with one of my roommates and she stole a keychain and I was horrified. Hehe.

whos your best friend and how did you meet?

I don't really have a best friend right now. I have a few close friends. One of my closest friends right now, I met 6 or 7 years ago. We were both in college and working as servers at Macaroni Grill. We hated our jobs and commiserated together.  If we worked doubles, we would take our lunch break and eat 5 course meals. It was so obnoxious!  But we've been friends ever since. And we've had some crazy times and I'm sure we'll have some more!

What is your theme song generally?

What song best describes you right now?

What is a scene from a movie that just gets you right there?

How about a television show? (I'm asking this one because I know what a Felicity fan you are.)

Is there a piece of art or artist that you admire/fundamentally understand?

What was one of the best days of your life?

What do you picture a happy, content day to consist of? (I don't mean on an island or on vacation, I mean a completely normal, just got home from work kind of day.)

Has there ever been a book or a part of a book or a poem that made some significant difference in your life?

What's a day in your life (or period in your life or experience) where you felt everything changed? (like you changed from a kid to an adult or your world was never the same or you were never the same or something like that)

Okay, that's all I got right now. I can come up with some more later but I can't wait to see what you say!

Okay, blubirde, some of these I might have to think about and I'll come back to them, but I'll answer some of them off the top of my head.

What is your theme song generally? I don't have a definitive theme song, but I do like U2's 'Walk On' and 'Beautiful Day.'

What song best describes you right now?  I think that 'Take this Job and Shove It' by Johnny Paycheck sums it up quite nicely.

What is a scene from a movie that just gets you right there?  One of the last scenes in Beaches, when they are sitting on the porch and you know it's one of their last moments together and then 'Wind Beneath my Wings' starts playing.

How about a television show? (I'm asking this one because I know what a Felicity fan you are.)  Oh gosh, well, I'll answer one for 'Felicity' and one for 'Lost' b/c I'm a huge fan of both.

First, for 'Felicity':  The moment in the last season where Ben says, "It was my turn to follow you." AHHHH! I'm getting goosebumps on my legs just thinking about it! Dammit, now the goosebumps will make the hair on my legs grow faster and I'll have to shave again! I hate shaving! But anyway, yes, that was probably one of the best moments of the show.

Similarly (and even though I say I was going to mention this show) the finale of friends when Ross says, "I got off the plane." Yet another goosebump-inducing, hair growing reaction!

And last, for 'Lost' in the last episode of the season, when Jack and Sawyer have a 'moment.' Sawyer tells Jack the story about how he ran into Jack's dad in a bar in Sydney.  It was very touching and we saw the softer side of Sawyer. Also, when Sun and Jin hugged and said goodbye. That was heartwrenching b/c they have been estranged for the entire season and the experience on the island has brought them back together, but also (physically) has separated them. And I may have been touched by the moment when Walt gave Shannon his dog, if Shannon wasn't such a beyatch!! But it was still slightly touching.

Is there a piece of art or artist that you admire/fundamentally understand? I really love Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by George Seurat. First and foremost b/c of the style in which it was painting. It's stipling, which is tiny dots that make up the whole.  It's quite amazing. And there is just so much going on in this painting, with all of the people.  And of course, it's the inspiration for one of my favorite musicals, "Sunday in the Park with George."

What was one of the best days of your life?  Wow, that's tough. I don't know that I can pinpoint just one day.  I would have to say my childhood in general was an extremely happy time (see my answers above to someone else's questions).

What do you picture a happy, content day to consist of? (I don't mean on an island or on vacation, I mean a completely normal, just got home from work kind of day.) Well, 'work' wouldn't be this hellish job that I'm currently at.  Ideally, I would be working part-time in an arts organization, in their marketing department.  After my half-day of work, I would go home and design jewelry and work on the next great American novel.  Then in the early evening, I would either have a rehearsal for a musical to go to or a gallery opening to attend or some other artsy event.

Then, when I got home from all of that, I would have a delicious surf (filet mignon) and turf (big, juicy lobster tail) waiting for me when I got home (which had been made by a bf who treats me the way he should).  There would also be a nice, expensive bottle of champagne and strawberries and chocolate for dessert. We'd eat and laugh and watch reruns of Friends and then crappy late night tv, until we were exhausted and then head off to our California King sized bed with 600-thread count sheets for some more fun before finally passing out into a blissful night's sleep.

Has there ever been a book or a part of a book or a poem that made some significant difference in your life?  I recently read "The Career Guide for Creative and Unconventional People" and that really helped me put into perspective some of the reasons why I'm having a harder time finding a job (although, I still stand by my belief that it's been ridiculously hard for me and I don't understand why).  It's a good book for people wanting to work in a creative field.

I'm sure that there are other greater works of literature that I've read (duh), but at the moment, they all escape me. If I think of them, I'll edit this.

What's a day in your life (or period in your life or experience) where you felt everything changed? (like you changed from a kid to an adult or your world was never the same or you were never the same or something like that)

This is going to sound like I'm completely off my beam, but it was the day my dog (Muffin) died. I was 22. almost 23 and I had had her since my 8th birthday.  It was that day that I felt the last remnants of my childhood slip away.  She was my childhood pet and she was gone.  My grandparents had already passed on and we had moved away from my childhood home.  So, Muffin was it.  And when she died, I remember thinking, wow, I'm really not a kid anymore.

Oh my god - that was one of the best, if not the best, lines from that show!  I balled for like a half hour!!

I think you, Blubirde, and me (and whoever else loves Felicity) needs to have a Felicity party!  LOL - or maybe just start a fan club!

*Describe your dream house

Oh, this is a really fun one!! First of all, it would be an oversized beach cottage, in Southern Cali or Hawaii. I find that I'm more inspired creatively when I'm at the beach, so a beach house is a must!

And the most important room in my house would be my studio, which would be a sunroom that spanned the entire length of the house and overlooked the ocean.  It would have hardwood floors (for dancing) and a wall of mirrors (spanning 1/2 the length of the room and opposite the windows).  There would also be a stereo system with surround sound. On the other side of the room (without the mirrors) would be my work station for jewelry design, a few cabinets, easels, lots of paintings, a sewing machine (b/c I'd like to learn to sew better and make clothes and handbags), mannequins, a desk with a computer and my 'inspiration wall,' where I would hang pictures and photos of anything and everything that inspired me.

As for the rest of the house, it would have a beach cottage, relaxed, yet girly vibe throughout the whoe house. The main floor would contain the living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen and office.  The first floor would be done entirely in shades of pink, brown and aqua, with different rooms having a different ratio of those colors (some more aqua, some more pink, some more brown).

The upstairs would contain the master suite that had a sparkling, girly chandelier above the bed.  It would be decorated in shades of purple, aqua and brown.  There would be a jacuzzi in the master bath and of course, a huge, room-sized walk-in closet.

The house would also have a deck and a swimming pool with a cabana.  And an outdoor hottub.  And there would be real palm trees in my yard! I love palm trees!

*What is your most embarrasing moment?

Well, this might be TMI, but you asked.   I was at my then-bf's house (this was several years ago).  All I had had to eat all day was Andes mints and Peppermint icecream. For some reason, we decided to start drinking peppermint schnapps. I got sooooo wasted.  So, anyway, he was, um...down south and all of a sudden I started to feel really, really sick.  Before I could even get up, I projectile vomited chocolate-mint scented puke all over him, his bed, his alarm clock, everywhere!!! It was so nasty. He ran to get me a trash can and I puked some more into that.  This was only about a month into our relationship and we actually stayed together for a year and a half after that (amazingly, he still stuck around after that).  So, for Christmas, I bought him new sheets and an alarm clock since I had ruined his old ones with my minty-fresh puke.

I still can't eat anything peppermint flavored to this day.

*What do you want your tombstone to read?

This isn't something I've ever really thought about.  Probably something like, "She was a creative and artistic spirit who touched the lives of those she met. And she was damn funny, too."

Most likely a small non-profit arts organization like the one I did my first internship at.  They are really a great place and do a lot to reach out to the community through art.  And they also rely heavily on volunteers and donations to maintain their livelihood.

 What's your biggest pet peeve?

I really hate when people leave toothpaste globs in the sink. It's just so gross! It skeeves me out!  I also hate it when people snap their gum. At my old job, these girls would come in and just walk around snapping their gum. It was so annoying.

What single word best describes you?

Well, the cynic in me wants to say, underappreciated.  But overall, I would have to with artistic.

Okay, I finally thought of some questions for you!

But first, let me say that even though I haven't responded to your post about your BF and job, it's not b/c I don't commiserate. I do. I just don't have any advice except to press on!

Now, w/o further ado:

1. What's your "motto"?

2. If you could do anything for your Mom or give her any gift, what would it be?

3. What is the one achievable change that you think would make the most difference in your life?

4. Who is your dream husband? (Not hook up, but husband)

5. Describe your "go-to" outfit - the one that you put on when you need to look good and you just know it will always look good on you.

6. How did you learn to make jewelry, and when are we all going to be able to start buying it?

1. What's your "motto"?

I don't really have a motto...but I do have this picture next to my bed with this saying on it: "The future belongs to those who believe in the power of their dreams." Maybe I should put that in my signature on ST.

2. If you could do anything for your Mom or give her any gift, what would it be?

I would love to be able to repay her for all of the times she's helped me out and it was a major sacrifice on her part.  Growing up, she went without new clothes for years (and I mean years) so that I would have new clothes every school year (obviously, I was growing so I needed them).  She sacrificed her entire life for me and worked so hard to get where she is now.  And even now she still is struggling a bit by working two jobs.

I would love to be able to make enough money to pay off all of her debt (mortgage, car, ect) and allow her to stop working two jobs and retire when she wants to. I would want her to not have any financial worries again.

3. What is the one achievable change that you think would make the most difference in your life?

Getting a job in my field.  Then I would at least feel as though my life is moving forward instead of feeling like I'm spinning my wheels and going nowhere.  I hope that's still achievable (although, I'm starting to have serious doubts).

4. Who is your dream husband? (Not hook up, but husband)

Honestly, I never really think about this kind of thing. I'm so focused on my job and career that I don't have time to really fantasize about men.  I guess someone who is caring and understands me and my crazy creative side.  Other than that, I honestly don't know.

5. Describe your "go-to" outfit - the one that you put on when you need to look good and you just know it will always look good on you.

I don't really have one, since I it's a really rare event that I wear the same outfit twice.  But I usually feel good in a girly skirt and a pretty top or a pair of jeans and a girly shirt. Other than that, I can't really think of one specific outfit in my closet that I always go back to.  I don't really have outfits b/c everything in my closet goes together and mixes and matches.

6. How did you learn to make jewelry, and when are we all going to be able to start buying it?

I taught myself.  I've always been fascinated by jewelry and even when I was a little kid, I started making beaded (seed beads) necklaces and bracelets and selling them to people. Then I moved on to clay (FIMO) and sold that.  Now, I that I'm all grown up and all sophisticated-like (), I have moved on to gemstones, crystal, chain and wire.  I really like to work with wire and I would love to learn how to use PMC (precious metal clay).  I would also like to metalsmithing in general.

As far as buying it, my plans to get a website up in September were foiled by lack of funds.  Right now I'm working on the Spring 2006 line and hope to have a website up in March.  Baby steps, right?  Anyway, I did change the name to Jill Christie Designs (on the advice of someone on this forum--she knows who she is ).  I really hope to get this going in full-force in 2006, meaning website, tradeshows, art shows, ect.  I would also like to learn to make handbags and incorporate that into the website as well.  Right now, I'm still selling via word of mouth and e-mail.  But obviously, that has it's limitations.
